Fantasy QBs to Avoid in 2025

C.J. StroudAs the 2025 NFL season approaches, fantasy football managers are evaluating which quarterbacks to target and which to avoid. Based on recent analyses, here are four quarterbacks you might consider steering clear of in your drafts:

1. C.J. Stroud (Houston Texans)
C.J. Stroud's fantasy prospects have dimmed due to significant offseason changes in Houston. The Texans lost key offensive players: wide receiver Stefon Diggs departed, Tank Dell is expected to miss most of the season due to injury, and Pro Bowl left tackle Laremy Tunsil was traded. These losses, combined with an offensive line that ranked 29th in PFF grades in 2024, could hinder Stroud's performance. His struggles under pressure last season may be exacerbated in 2025.

2. Aaron Rodgers (assuming Pittsburgh Steelers)
Aaron Rodgers' potential role with the Steelers raises red flags for fantasy managers. At 41, Rodgers has shown signs of decline over the past three seasons. Joining a team with an average offensive line, a run-focused coordinator, and facing strong divisional defenses could limit his fantasy production. The challenges of adapting to a new system and environment may outweigh any potential benefits.

3. Tua Tagovailoa (Miami Dolphins)
Tua Tagovailoa's fantasy value is questionable heading into 2025. The retirement of left tackle Terron Armstead weakens the offensive line, and uncertainties surrounding star receiver Tyreek Hill add to the concerns. Tagovailoa has yet to throw 30 touchdowns in a season and relies heavily on yards after the catch. Given these factors, he may not offer the upside desired in fantasy quarterbacks.

4. Sam Darnold (Seattle Seahawks)
Sam Darnold's move to Seattle presents challenges for fantasy relevance. The Seahawks' offensive line ranked 31st last year, and the team has made minimal improvements. With a potential shift towards a run-heavy offense and the departure of key receivers like DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett, Darnold may find limited opportunities to produce significant fantasy points.

While each of these quarterbacks has had moments of success, current team dynamics and individual circumstances suggest they may not be the best choices for your 2025 fantasy football roster.
