Week 4 Waiver Wire

Monday, Sep 28, 2009 at 12:00 pm ET

If you're one of those who picked up Laurent Robinson, I feel bad for you. Looks like he's going to be out for the rest of the season with a broken leg. You'll be dropping him as quickly as you picked him up.

I've been pretty fortunate to have only lost 1 game so far (and it was only by 2 points!), but that doesn't mean that I'm not watching the waiver wires looking for some good pick ups. I use waivers to find guys with potential and they usually end up on my bench until they have a great matchup or become consistently good. Sometimes I'll find a guy that I can plug into my lineup right away. Here are the guys that I'll be looking at:

Glen Coffee, 49ers

Coffee's number got called when Frank Gore went down. Reports indicate that Gore could miss two weeks with an ankle injury. Coffee stepped up and rushed for 54 yards. 54 yards may sound pretty decent against a tough Minnesota front line, but he carried it 25 times for a paltry 2.1 yard average. He should do better next week against the 25th-ranked St Louis defense and the following week against the 19th-ranked Falcons.

Vernon Davis, 49ers

Davis's performance yesterday was a long time coming. 7 receptions. 96 yards. 2 TD's. Finally. Davis is most likely available in your league, so put in for him. I can't guarantee he'll turn in a performance anywhere near this every week, but the potential is there. He's a big, strong guy who has always had the potential to put up good numbers. I put in for him to replace Ben Watson as my backup.

LeSean McCoy, Eagles

I'm putting McCoy on this list, but I have a feeling that he's already gone in deeper leagues. Many Westbrook owners already took this handcuff. He was impressive posting 84 yards on the ground and a TD. Not bad for a handcuff.

Pierre Garcon, Colts

That was a fun game to watch last night if you had any Colts players, but I'd venture a guess that you didn't have Pierre Garcon. He should be available in most leagues and he showed his stuff last night. Rodgers-Cromartie got burned all night long. Garcon hauled down 3 receptions for 64 yards and a touchdown. While Arizona had to keep an eye on Wayne and Clark, Garcon forced them to pay attention to him as well. With

Mike Sims-Walker, Jacksonville

Sims-Walker is owned in 24% of FleaFlicker leagues but don't expect that number to stay low for long. He's coming off a 6 reception, 106 yards, and 1 TD game two weeks ago along with a 6 reception, 81 yard performance yesterday. By all accounts, he appears to be the number one receiver in Jacksonville and is developing a good rapport with QB David Garrard. If he's still available, grab him quick.

Good luck and let me know if there's someone you're watching that I should be paying attention to.
