This week's report takes a closer look at how our projections for Week 8 stacked up against actual performance on the field - spotlighting the calls we nailed, the players who exceeded expectations, and the disappointments who fell short. By examining both the hits and the misses, we gain valuable insight into how players are performing. While recognizing that it's nearly impossible to perfectly project every player's performance, we're not shy about showing you every miss and hit.
Spot On
Several players ended the week very close to where they were projected to. Week 8, 2025 - quick fantasy recap:
Jake Elliott: Projected 8.00, scored 8.00. Perfectly matched expectations - a textbook, plug-and-play kicker outing with no fantasy variance.
Cam Ward: Projected 12.80, scored 12.76. Nearly identical to projection (off by 0.04). He's been a terrible fantasy QB thus far, but his projections are fairly pedestrian at this point.
Wil Lutz: Projected 8.10, scored 8.00. Slightly under projection by 0.10 points, but effectively met expectations and provided reliable production for managers.
Over Performed
Quite a few players exceeded their expectations this week helping fantasy managers to a win. Tucker Kraft (TE, Packers) - Projected 10.20, Actual 29.80 (+19.60)
Kraft absolutely crushed his projection in Week 8, delivering a massive upside outing for tight end managers. It was especially relevant on Tight Ends Day!
Breece Hall (RB, Jets) - Projected 13.60, Actual 31.86 (+18.26)
Hall more than doubled expectations, producing elite fantasy value for the week. His usage in the second half of the game exploded and he delivered the Jets their first win of the season.
James Cook (RB, Bills) - Projected 16.30, Actual 33.60 (+17.30)
Cook outperformed his projection by a wide margin, turning in a breakout-type fantasy day. He was able to hit the after burners as soon as he saw open field. He ran wild this week.
Under Performed
Unfortunately, not everyone lived up to their expectations. Bijan Robinson - Projected 21.60, Actual 4.30 (−17.30, 19.9% of projection)
Robinson was a massive letdown for Week 8, delivering just a fraction of his projection. The Atlanta team just wasn't humming.
Baker Mayfield - Projected 19.50, Actual 4.08 (−15.42, 20.9% of projection)
Mayfield drastically underperformed expectations, producing a QB2/bench-level output instead of the 3-pleasing day many hoped for. With a banged up receiving corp and constant pressure, it was his lowest fantasy day of the year.
Andy Dalton - Projected 14.10, Actual 1.10 (−13.00, 7.8% of projection)
