Week 7 Start or Sit

This is the Fantasy Nerd's look at the best and worst matchups for Week 7 of the 2025 NFL season. Analysis is aggregated from multiple sources including FN. Rankings are based upon PPR (point per reception) scoring. Given the known conditions, these matchups are the ones to watch and/or avoid.

Please Note: This list does not generally include the elite players that you are going to start regardless of matchup. You don't need us to tell you to start Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley, or AJ Brown. Instead, we take a look at other players on your team that we believe either have great matchups or should be avoided for multiple reasons. Factors like opposing defense, performance trending, and peer comparisons may influence our decisions.

Start 'em Caleb Williams (CHI, QB)
Caleb Williams has managed only two passing TDs across his last two outings, but Week 7 presents a chance for a rebound against a Saints secondary that has surrendered 14 passing scores through six games (tied for second-most). The weakest QB outing versus New Orleans this season was Jaxson Dart's 19.6 fantasy points in Week 5; every other signal-caller has produced at least 21.5 fantasy points, and Williams looks poised to join that group. He's posted just one game under 20.9 fantasy points this year and is averaging 31.7 fantasy points at home in two starts (vs. Minnesota and Dallas).
vs

5th Most Pts to QB
Start 'em Justin Fields (NYJ, QB)
Justin Fields and the Jets get a friendly Week 7 matchup against a Panthers unit that has allowed 308.3 yards and 19.8 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks. Fields had a dud in Week 6 (4.9 fantasy points) and will be without top target Garrett Wilson (knee), though coach Aaron Glenn has defended him. Despite the limitations, Carolina has surrendered three straight games with quarterbacks scoring at least 27 fantasy points, and two QBs (Kyler Murray, Drake Maye) have produced 3.4+ fantasy points from rushing alone against them - making Fields a viable low-end starter who's hit 29.9+ fantasy points in three of five games and still carries top-10 upside this week.
vs

16th Fewest Pts to QB
Start 'em Rachaad White (TB, RB)
With Bucky Irving sidelined by foot and shoulder injuries and expected to miss Week 7, Rachaad White has delivered back-to-back performances of at least 71 yards and a score, totaling 40.7 PPR over those two games (including 17.6 PPR in Week 6 vs. San Francisco). He's caught all seven targets for 51 yards in that span and could see an even bigger role in the passing game with Emeka Egbuka (hamstring) and Chris Godwin (leg) limited. Detroit ranks sixth-fewest in fantasy points allowed to running backs, but guys like Josh Jacobs, D'Andre Swift, Derrick Henry and Quinshon Judkins have still produced against them, so White looks like a solid RB2 in all formats for Week 7.
vs

4th Fewest Pts to RB
Start 'em Cam Skattebo (NYG, RB)
Cam Skattebo has solidified his role as the Giants' lead back after a 19-carry, 98-yard, three-touchdown outburst in Week 6 - plus two catches for 12 yards - yet he remains a strong start despite facing a top-10 Broncos run defense in Week 7. Tyrone Tracy Jr. did return from a two-game shoulder absence last week, but it didn't dent Skattebo's workload; he's posted at least 13 PPR points in five straight games and logged 21+ touches in each of the last three. Denver ranks fourth-fewest in fantasy points allowed to running backs, though Saquon Barkley, Omarion Hampton and Jonathan Taylor have all managed 17.8+ PPR against them this year, so Skattebo should be viewed as a viable No. 2 fantasy RB for Week 7.
vs

3rd Fewest Pts to RB
Start 'em Xavier Worthy (KC, WR)
With Rashee Rice back, Xavier Worthy will likely settle into the Chiefs' No. 2 receiver role, but Week 7 still shapes up well - Las Vegas has been vulnerable to opposing wideouts and yields plenty of fantasy production. Worthy's shown upside lately (two of his last three games with either 100 total yards or a touchdown and at least eight targets twice), so even as the Rice-Worthy dynamic gets sorted, he remains a solid WR2 option in most leagues.
vs

6th Most Pts to WR
Start 'em Jameson Williams (DET, WR)
Jameson Williams posted a season-best six catches for 66 yards and a touchdown in Week 6 against a tough Chiefs secondary, but his uneven target share makes him a risky option heading into Week 7 at Tampa Bay. The matchup, however, looks promising: the Bucs have recently allowed multiple receivers to post double-digit PPR outings, and Williams had 5 catches for 79 yards on 11 targets (plus a 15-yard carry) against them last year. In what should be a high-scoring home game, he projects as a solid No. 2 fantasy receiver.
vs

14th Most Pts to WR
Start 'em Harold Fannin (CLE, TE)
Harold Fannin Jr. led his team in Week 6 with seven catches for 81 yards on 10 targets and played 66 offensive snaps after David Njoku left with a knee issue. If Njoku is sidelined, the rookie could see an expanded role in Week 7 versus Miami, whose defense ranks 27th in fantasy points allowed to tight ends (12.6) and has already conceded double-digit fantasy outputs to four TEs, three of them rookies.
vs

8th Most Pts to TE
Start 'em Dallas Goedert (PHI, TE)
Despite the Eagles' upset in Week 6, Dallas Goedert stood out with nine catches for 110 yards and a touchdown. He remains a strong fantasy target for Week 7 - Minnesota has been stout overall against the pass but is below average at shutting down tight ends and has allowed double-digit fantasy totals to three different TEs since Week 3. Averaging nearly 16 fantasy points per game in a thin tight end landscape, Goedert should be considered a near-lock start and a top-10 option this week.
vs

14th Most Pts to TE
Start 'em Kansas City Chiefs (KC, DEF)
Kansas City's defense is a solid play this week, drawing a favorable matchup against Geno Smith and a Raiders offense that's been turnover-prone and beat up up front. Las Vegas has already coughed up 11 giveaways through six weeks and allowed 18 sacks, so expect the Chiefs to register a top-10 defensive stat line.
vs

5th Most Pts to DEF
Start 'em Eddy Pineiro (SF, K)
Eddy Pineiro has been perfect on 15 field-goal attempts this season and should remain a reliable scoring option for the 49ers in Week 7 at home against the Falcons. Since taking over as kicker he has racked up 64 fantasy points and posted double-digit totals in four of his first five games. Given Atlanta's tendency to allow about nine fantasy points per game to kickers, Pineiro is a solid fantasy start.
vs

13th Most Pts to K
Sit 'em Jaxson Dart (NYG, QB)
Jaxson Dart accounted for two touchdowns in the Giants' surprise Week 6 win over the Eagles and has been productive since replacing Russell Wilson in Week 4, scoring at least 19.6 fantasy points in each of his three starts and logging a season-high 25.6 in Week 6 while rushing for 54+ yards (and two rushing TDs) in every start. Still, Week 7 shapes up as a stern test in Denver, where a fierce pass rush and one of the league's top secondaries - plus a defense that ranks second-fewest in fantasy points allowed to quarterbacks and has smothered mobile QBs (holding several to just 17 carries for 42 yards and a score) - could neutralize his production if his running ability is limited.
vs

2nd Fewest Pts to QB
Sit 'em Tua Tagovailoa (MIA, QB)
Tua Tagovailoa and Miami draw a tough Week 7 assignment against a Browns defense that's been stingy to quarterbacks, allowing just 182.7 passing yards and 17.7 fantasy points per game. After a strong Week 5 (28.7 fantasy points) and a steep falloff in Week 6 (8.6), he now faces a unit that's held most QBs - including Joe Burrow, Jordan Love and Jared Goff - below 16.6 fantasy points, with only Lamar Jackson and Aaron Rodgers topping that mark. I'd be wary of starting Tua in Superflex or two-QB leagues; this road matchup projects to be a difficult one.
vs

11th Fewest Pts to QB
Sit 'em Nick Chubb (HOU, RB)
Chubb is seeing about 13 touches a game, but Week 7 looks tough as the Seahawks are holding opposing backs to a league-low 61.8 rushing yards per contest. He looked solid in Week 5 at Baltimore (11 carries, 61 yards, TD for 12.1 PPR points), yet Seattle has been stingy - only two rushing TDs allowed all season and even the best back against them so far, Christian McCaffrey, managed just 69 rushing yards. Expect Chubb to be a low-end flex this week, with slightly more appeal in non-PPR formats.
vs

12th Most Pts to RB
Sit 'em Kenneth Walker (SEA, RB)
After a difficult Week 6, Walker faces another tough matchup in Week 7 against a Texans run defense that ranks in the top 10 for limiting RB fantasy production. He's been losing snaps and scoring chances to Zach Charbonnet, has logged just 11 touches in each of his last two games, hasn't scored since Week 3, and has one catch over five straight contests (six targets total). With that usage and the matchup, Walker looks like a low-end flex rather than a trustworthy No. 2 option in most leagues.
vs

9th Fewest Pts to RB
Sit 'em Jordan Addison (MIN, WR)
Jordan Addison has been targeted six or more times in each game since returning from suspension, but he draws a tough matchup in Week 7 against an Eagles secondary that allows just 7.1 yards per target to wide receivers (fourth-fewest). With Carson Wentz (shoulder) and J.J. McCarthy (ankle) both injured and likely not at full strength, I'd only consider Addison in deeper, three-receiver formats. Justin Jefferson remains a lock to start, and Philadelphia has generally surrendered strong outings to opposing No. 1 receivers (CeeDee Lamb, Puka Nacua, Emeka Egbuka, Courtland Sutton, Wan'Dale Robinson); the lone No. 2 to break out was Davante Adams in Week 3 (14.6 PPR). Addison has produced at least 15.1 PPR in each game this year, but the quarterback uncertainty and the matchup could cap his upside in Week 7.
vs

15th Most Pts to WR
Sit 'em DeVonta Smith (PHI, WR)
DeVonta Smith has lost the week-to-week consistency he usually shows as the Eagles' offense sputters, and Week 7 brings a difficult matchup against a Vikings secondary that allows the fewest fantasy points to wide receivers. That makes life hard for both Smith and A.J. Brown, but Brown remains a must-start as a No. 2 option in most formats thanks to five straight games with at least eight targets. Smith, meanwhile, has been limited to six targets or fewer in three of those contests and has topped 9.3 PPR points only twice all season, so he's a start only in deeper, three-receiver setups this week.
vs

Feweset Pts to WR
Sit 'em Kyle Pitts (ATL, TE)
Kyle Pitts has cleared 40 receiving yards only twice this season, and in Week 7 he'll meet a 49ers unit that has been average vs. tight ends so far in 2025. Pitts Sr. was a non-factor last week with just 4.8 fantasy points in the win over Buffalo, has been under eight points in three of his last four games, and his targets have dipped in each of the past three contests. So even though the matchup isn't terrible on paper, starting Pitts Sr. still feels like a risky play.
vs

13th Fewest Pts to TE
Sit 'em T.J. Hockenson (MIN, TE)
T.J. Hockenson hauled in a season-best six catches in Minnesota's last outing, but he's a risky play for Week 7 against the Eagles, who allow just 3.8 fantasy points per game to tight ends. Despite his name recognition, Hockenson has been held to single-digit fantasy scores in four of five games this year, and Philadelphia has only allowed two tight ends to top double digits - neither exceeding 13.3 points. If you decide to start him, keep your expectations modest.
vs

3rd Fewest Pts to TE
Sit 'em Tampa Bay Buccaneers (TB, DEF)
The Bucs' defense can shine in the right matchup, but taking them against Detroit in Motown is risky - the Lions are putting up a whopping 43 points per game at home and rank among the league leaders in total yards there.
vs

2nd Fewest Pts to DEF
Sit 'em Joshua Karty (LAR, K)
We're tired of seeing missed field goals. Joshua Karty has struggled this season, missing six kicks overall - three of them in the Rams' last four games - and his fantasy output has been underwhelming. After a dud last week in which he missed a field goal and finished with just four points, he's been held to five or fewer fantasy points in three games. With the Jaguars up next in Week 7, he's a fade: their defense has largely stifled kickers, with only one surpassing seven points and three limited to just four.

starting breece hall in a PPR, but i hate doing it… do i dare risk grabbing l mccaffrey instead since they’re down wideouts and dallas secondary is totally injured? thx!

Nerd CommentedOct 19, 2025 11:43 am

I think Luke McCaffrey is a potential good pick in DFS, but I'm not sure I would start him over Breece Hall.
