This week's report takes a closer look at how our projections for Week 1 stacked up against actual performance on the field - spotlighting the calls we nailed, the players who exceeded expectations, and the disappointments who fell short. By examining both the hits and the misses, we gain valuable insight into how players are performing. While recognizing that it's nearly impossible to perfectly project every player's performance, let's see where we hit, where we missed, and see how the last week went.
Spot On
Brock Bowers delivered exactly as projected fueling confidence in his ability to deliver. We also saw guys like CeeDee Lamb, Dallas Goedert, and Demario Douglas come within 0.3 points of their projections. Lamb could have delivered more but several drops prevented that.
Over Performed
Facing Lamar Jackson and the Ravens, Josh Allen delivered a winning performance for Week 1 bringing home almost 39 points which is almost 18 points higher than projected. Those 18 points come in handy when some of your other players underperform. Quentin Johnston put the smack down on his projections as well as he appeared to be a favorite target for Justin Herbert who also exceeded his projections. Aaron Rodgers delivered above and beyond in his first start with the Steelers. Look for that Rodgers to Metcalf train to ride the whole season.
Under Performed
Nobody delivered as poorly as the consensus #1 draft pick, Ja'Marr Chase. The entire Bengals offense, despite looking like they were in mid-season form during the preseason, looked rusty. A.J. Brown was next in the disappointment column delivering a paltry 1.3 points. Xavier Worthy left the game with an injury which left fantasy managers with a goose egg. Fortunately, these guys have every opportunity to bounce back in Week 2.
