Week 2 Waiver Wire Targets

Week 1's are always crazy so don't respond by acting crazy. Plenty of guys failed to deliver in Week 1 (Deshaun Watson, LeSean McCoy, Kareem Hunt, Travis Kelce), but hold onto them. If you're looking for guys to target for Week 2, here are a few to consider.

T.J. YeldonT.J. Yeldon, RB - JAC
Yeldon took over starting duties after Leonard Fournette left with a hamstring injury. The veteran made an immediate impact, capping a second-quarter touchdown drive with a one-yard reception after ripping off a 15-yard run on the previous play. Given his usage here, Yeldon will be a must-add in both standard and PPR formats should Fournette's injury keep him out for any extended period. He rushed 14 times for 51 yards and caught three of seven targets for 18 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 20-15, Week 1 win over the Giants.

George Kittle, TE - SF
The second-year tight end was Jimmy Garoppolo's favorite target of the afternoon, with his impressive yardage total likely at least partly influenced by the fact Marquise Goodwin (quadriceps) spent time on the sidelines during the contest. Kittle displayed his impressive speed on several receptions, including his game-long 36-yard grab. It was an auspicious start to the campaign for a player many believe will take a considerable leap in his sophomore campaign, one he'll look to build on in a Week 2 matchup against the Lions.

John BrownJohn Brown, WR - BAL
Brown drew rave reviews in camp and kept it going late in the first quarter, connecting with Joe Flacco on a seven-yard touchdown in the back of the end zone. Brown had a 1,000-yard season as a sophomore in 2015, so the ability was there not long ago. He fell out of favor in Arizona, but he may have rebooted his career in Baltimore. He caught three of four targets for 44 yards and a touchdown during Sunday's 47-3 win over Buffalo.

Ryan Fitzpatrick, QB - TB
Fitzpatrick completed 21 of 28 passes for 417 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions in the Buccaneers' 48-40 win over the Saints on Sunday. He also rushed 12 times for 36 yards and another score. The yardage was a career high for Fitzpatrick, who for at least one week, lent plenty of credence to the notion of Jameis Winston's starting job not being guaranteed when he returns from his season-opening three-game suspension. Fitzpatrick will have the unenviable task of trying to follow up Sunday's sensational effort against the Eagles in Week 2. In deep 2-QB leagues, Ryan Fitzpatrick may be an option. The caveat is that we don't know how long he'll be under center.

Dede WestbrookDede Westbrook, WR - JAC
Quarterback Blake Bortles spread the ball around in this one, with five players getting between four and seven targets. Westbrook led the team in catches while falling only three receiving yards short of Keelan Cole's team-high mark, so the 24-year-old wide receiver looks like he'll be heavily involved in the offense all season. Since Westbrook does most of his work on shorter routes, he'll have greater appeal in PPR formats. He caught five of six targets for 51 yards in Sunday's season-opening, 20-15 win over the Giants.

Cole Beasley, WR - DAL
Beasley was basically the only option in the passing game for Dallas. He lead the team with 8 targets, 7 catches and 73 yards. The reliable slot man should remain heavily involved going forward and is in play in deeper PPR leagues.

Chicago Bears, DEF
Khalil Mack is a beast. In his first game as a Bear, Mack had three tackles, one assisted tackle, one sack, a forced fumble, a number of hurries, and a pick-6. He literally just took the ball away from Green Bay's backup QB Deshone Kizer. All of this while still getting integrated with his team and without playing all the snaps. His presence made the rest of the Bears defense better as well. There's a reason why Mack is arguably the best defensive player in football.
