Michael Carter rushed 14 times for 56 yards in the Cardinals' Week 15 loss to the Texans, adding four catches for 38 yards on four targets.Carter was nearly an every-down running back, playing 49-of-62 snaps after Zonovan Knight's early exit. Emari Demercado played just seven snaps behind him and didn't really look himself. Of course, it's possible that next week Demercado gets a larger share of the load as he -- in theory -- recovers more from his high-ankle sprain. Whoever totes the head of the Arizona role has some real RB3/FLEX fantasy equity against the Falcons next week, and Carter comes out of this week's game looking like he'll have the best shot at the role after Demercado's disappointing day.
Cardinals RB Zonovan Knight (ankle) left Arizona's Week 15 game against the Texans and was ruled out.He was carted off the field after being tackled on his first carry. Knight left with minus-2 rushing yards. Though they initially called him questionable, FOX's sideline reporter Jen Hale described Knight as being "in a tremendous amount of pain." Knight may be staring at a season-ending injury.
Cardinals RB Zonovan Knight (ankle) left Arizona's Week 15 game against the Texans and is questionable to return. He was carted off the field after being tackled on his first carry. Knight left with minus-2 rushing yards. Though they called him questionable, FOX's sideline reporter described Knight as being "in a tremendous amount of pain" and it would be surprising if he returned.
Cardinals RB Emari Demercado (ankle) will not play in Arizona's Week 14 game against the Rams.He had gone limited-limited over the first two days of the week, but Demercado popped up with a surprise DNP on Friday and was ruled out. That's just normal Cardinals backfield stuff these days, as the world has conspired to give Zonovan Knight RB2/FLEX assignments. Arizona also named Xavier Weaver (hamstring) as questionable after he DNP'ed, a move that had Cardinals beat Darren Urban predicting a lot of Trent Sherfield on Sunday. So, you know, there are healthier teams in the league.
Cardinals coach Jonathan Gannon said he "hope[s]" Trey Benson (knee) will return this season, but "he's just not there yet."When the deadline to activate Benson from his 21-day window was mentioned to Gannon, he noted "that doesn't mean you can't activate him and then he could possibly be down." It doesn't sound like Benson is particularly close to returning at this point. Zonovan Knight will continue to fill in as the lead back in the meantime for the Cardinals.
