Lions QB Jared Goff was nearly perfect in the Week 7 win over the Vikings, completing 22 of 25 passes (88%) for 280 yards (11.2 YPA), two TDs, and 0 INTs. That included clutch passes for RB Jahmyr Gibbs for 16 yards and WR Amon-Ra St. Brown for 14 yards on a game-winning FG drive. The performance was more impressive when you consider that Minnesota entered this one ranked first in pass defense DVOA and eighth in adjusted fantasy points allowed to QBs. Goff is just the second QB this season to throw more TDs than INTs against the Vikings.
St. Brown secured all eight targets for 112 yards and a touchdown in the Lions' 31-29 win over the Vikings on Sunday.
Per usual, the Lions' offense ran through their ground game and Amon-Ra St. Brown this week, leaving the rest of the pass-catchers fighting for scraps. Kalif Raymond came out on top with three grabs for 39 yards and a score. Williams looked like a 1B to St. Browns' 1A early in the year but has since regressed to No. 2 receiver usage. He has seven catches over his past two weeks. He did, however, top 80 yards from scrimmage and score two touchdowns over that stretch. Williams will fall back into the WR3 ranks for his Week 8 game against the Titans.
St. Brown has had a relatively quiet year for his lofty standards with three games under 50 yards, though two of those games came in blowout wins where his services weren't needed. In a back-and-forth affair with the Vikings, St. Brown proved as lethal as ever with five first downs and a 35-yard score in the second quarter. Detroit's run-heavy approach can lead to some underwhelming yardage totals for St. Brown, but he's up to four touchdowns on the year and shows up when it matters most. St. Brown will remain in the middle of the WR1 pack when the Lions retake the field versus Tennessee next week.
The big plays came in the second quarter of Sunday's battle for the top of the NFC North.
