Week 2 Waiver Wire Targets

Tuesday, Sep 12, 2017 at 12:00 pm ET

If you were a David Johnson, Allen Robinson, Danny Woodhead, or Kevin White owner, your season took a hit. That's why we draft for depth. Unless your first round pick was Antonio Brown or LeSean Mccoy, you had a rough week as well. Here are a few guys to put waiver claims on for Week 2.

1. Tarik Cohen, RB - CHI
Cohen was easily one of the most explosive players that we saw on Sunday. His cuts and speed were so impressive that comparisons to how Jordan Howard took over the lead role last season began almost immediately. While Howard is not in danger of losing his position atop the depth chart right now, it would have helped his situation immensely if he could have caught the last second touchdown pass late in the 4th. Howard is the starter but Cohen looked better and will likely be eating into his touches each week. In fact, Cohen had just 3 fewer touches than Howard and led the team with 12 targets. Cohen will probably be the first guy to go off waivers this week and should be owned as an RB3 or potential flex play in PPR formats.

2. Kerwynn Williams, RB - ARI
David Johnson is expected to miss several weeks with an injured wrist, and while Kerwynn Williams will be atop the depth chart, let's be clear here: Williams is not David Johnson. He is not going to deliver you 300 fantasy points. By all indications, it would appear that the Cardinals are going to be going with a committee approach. In PPR formats, Williams will lose work to Andre Ellington. There are a lot of question marks surrounding Williams at the moment as he doesn't have a long history for us to make a qualified judgement on.

3. Javorius "Buck" Allen, RB - BAL
Terrance West is the starting RB in Baltimore, but Allen played 6 more snaps than West in Week 1. With Danny Woodhead injured (hamstring), we would anticipate Allen's role getting a boost.

4. Kenny Golladay, WR - DET
The Lions had a big day through the air on Sunday and Golladay was one of the reasons why. His 4-for-69 and 2 scores have a lot of folks talking. He's clearly ahead of T.J. Jones in the pecking order, but it's difficult to not fall victim to recency bias here. It's unlikely that Golladay puts up 2 scores again in the same week, and we'd still rather have Golden Tate and Marvin Jones, but his 7 targets on Sunday was certainly intriguing.

5. Austin Hooper, TE - ATL
Like Golladay above, we don't want to fall victim to recency bias with Hooper. His 2-for-128 and a score was impressive, but he only saw 2 targets in the whole game. He made the most of them obviously, but what happens when he doesn't? Until we see his targets rise, he'll remain a potential starter in deeper leagues and certainly makes for a great bye-week option.

6. Chris Carson, RB - SEA
When the Seattle offense came out at Lambeau on Sunday afternoon, it was Chris Carson starting in the backfield - not Eddie Lacy or C.J. Prosise. Carson also lead the backfield in snaps. We didn't get to see much out of the Seahawks offense as they struggled against Green Bay, but even with Thomas Rawls expected back for Week 2 at home against the Niners, Carson should have a solid role as the RB2 on that team.

7. Kendall Wright, WR - CHI
If you look at the Chicago version of CraigsList, you'll find a help wanted ad for the Bears. The wide receiving corp is banged up and depleted. Looking to snag Wright off the waivers in your league is more about opportunities than talent. With Meredith and White out and Markus Wheaton still recovering, Wright is one of the only viable receiving options right now in the Windy City.

Glad I've already got Golladay and Williams. Drafted them both in the late rounds. Williams in the 11th round followed by Golladay in the 12th.

Lost both Da. Johnson and A. Robinson in week 1... that league's F/A goes off tonight.. thanks to also owning TY Hilton, A. Vinatieri and New England Def... I easily earned the #1 spot on the waiver wire... sucks to lose nearly all hope for the year in wk 1. I am 'fixing' some of that tonight (I hope)...

I need some WR depth and not ready to believe in N. Agholor or P. Richardson just yet.. maybe someone will establish some more 'proof' here in week 2

I have Kamara, Kenny Britt, and Darren Mcfadden on the end of my bench. who would you drop first (if any) for Wright, Lacy or Foreman (playing the handcuff lotto)?

The rest of my team:
QB: Palmer, Luck
RB: Bell, Miller, Martin, Mcfadden
WR: Watkins, Martavis Bryant, Maclin, Corey Davis, Britt
TE: Gronk

Thanks man!

Probably drop RunDMC - with Zeke likely to play all year and Morris also in the mix, little upside there.
