Lions Get Screwed and Random 1st Week Thoughts

Monday, Sep 13, 2010 at 12:00 pm ET

I watched in disbelief as Calvin Johnson's 4th quarter go-ahead TD got reviewed and overturned. Unbelievable. Someone call the police because the Lions just got robbed. What happened to letting the guys play? It's a play like that that convinces me that the NFL has gone too far with their rules and they're going to hide behind some convoluted rule instead of making the situation right. It was a brilliant pass with an exceptional catch by a very talented receiver. The end result is nothing less than a slap in the face of Detroit. Sorry Chicago but you do not deserve that win. Detroit - if you've got any of that bailout money left, save some for next week's game and be sure to give it to the refs. Call it the NFL Stimulus Program.

Every week during the season there are ALWAYS going to be hits and misses with the expert rankings, but didn't it seem like Week 1 was pretty odd? I mean, c'mon, Eli has twice the game that Brees has? When did we enter the Twilight Zone?

We all knew that Chris Johnson would do well and he didn't disappoint with 142 yards and 2 scores. We all knew that Arian Foster had the potential to be a terrific back, but NOBODY saw 231 yards and 3 scores coming. 50 yards rushing has become the norm for Matt Forte, but toss in 7 receptions for 151 yards and you've got a record-setting fantasy day. We all knew that his mouth was big, but Chad Ochocinco put up numbers that were just as big against the Pats (12 receptions for 159 yards and a score).

Drew Brees's 237 yards and TD were respectable, but underwhelming considering the expectations. I called the police dept in Houston and filled out the missing persons report on Andre Johnson and Matt Schaub. Michael Vick had more rushing yards by himself than Michael Turner, Frank Gore, Reggie Bush, and CJ Spiller combined.

Foster was a beast, but it was great to see another sleeper do well this week. Hakeem Nicks snared 75 yards and 3 TD's in the Giant's win over the Panthers. Nicely done.

As much as I hate to see a guy get hurt, it's probably for the best that Justin Harrell is out for the season for the Packers. It was inevitable anyway and everybody knew that except for the Packer's wonder-GM Ted Thompson.

Ryan Grant shouldn't need surgery but he will not play next week against the Bills.

It doesn't look like Matt Stafford is going to need surgery for what has been reported as a shoulder separation.

Gotta go - looking forward to two Monday Night Games!

Any chance you can add IDP data to this site? That would be awesome. A Weekly DL, LB, DB rankings search would be icing on the cake!

Thanks.

His knee was down too... stupid call.

I agree 100% Ezze.

Titan5545 - I get this question a lot. I don't have any real plans to do this for IDP but perhaps it's time to reconsider.
