The 26-year-old right-hander racked up five strikeouts on the night while issuing three free passes. The lone tally against him came on a throwing error that Yamamoto made himself in the opening inning, but the Dodgers weren't able to scratch out a single run of support for him in this one. Yamamoto got 12 swings and misses on 97 pitches in the ballgame, posting a CSW of 28 percent. He'll carry a pristine 1.69 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and a 19/6 K/BB ratio into Wednesday's tilt against the Nationals in Washington.
The Phillies' leadoff man doubled off of Yoshinobu Yamamoto in the opening inning, swiped third base and scored the game's first run on a throwing error. He also worked a walk to lead off the sixth inning. The dynamic 31-year-old shortstop is still searching for his first home run of the season but is now hitting .313 (5-for-16) with a pair of runs scored, one RBI and two stolen bases.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto puts in a solid start, but the Dodgers struggle at the plate and on the basepaths to lose 3-2 for their first loss of the season.
Yamamoto allowed five hits and two walks to go with the punchouts. Both runs allowed came off solo homers; one from Dillon Dingler, the other from Gleyber Torres. Minus those round-trippers -- and even with them -- he was excellent, generating 17 swinging strikes from his 91 offerings. His next start isn't scheduled, but he'll likely face the Phillies next weekend.
Yamamoto came away with a no-decision in Friday's 8-5 extra-inning win over the Tigers, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks over five innings. He struck out 10.
