The new Joey Meneses appears better than the old one, as Yepez has hit .375/.423/.609 in 71 plate appearances since being called up on July 5. He shouldn't keep up this pace, but he's definitely an option in deeper mixed leagues while playing regularly for the Nationals.
Yepez singled off Luis Severino in the fourth inning to drive in Lane Thomas and Keibert Ruiz, giving the Nationals a 2-1 lead after falling behind early. Playing in just his sixth game since being promoted to the big league squad on July 5, Yepez has now hit safely in every game he's appeared in, providing a nice spark in place of Joey Meneses. It's been an encouraging start for Yepez, who slashed .240/.286/.419 during his first two seasons with the Cardinals (2022-2023). He's a lifetime .270 hitter at Triple-A, so we'd expect this mini-hot streak to cool off at some point.
