Philadelphia Phillies' Johan Rojas wagged his finger after making a diving one-handed catch to close out the first inning against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Spence gave up five hits, walked five and struck out six. Three of the hits he allowed were home runs to Nick Castellanos, Johan Rojas, and Trea Turner. Spence has allowed at least five runs in three of his last four starts and has a 4.81 ERA with 50 strikeouts in 11 starts since the Athletics moved him into the rotation on May 17th. He's won only two of those starts. Spence is difficult to roster even in deeper formats.
Marsh's home run was his ninth of the season. He hit a solo shot off Landon Knack in the second inning. In the sixth inning, he drove in Nick Castellanos with a triple and then came around to score on a single by Johan Rojas. Marsh is hitting .272 with an .804 OPS and 35 RBI this season.
Turner got the Phillies on the board with a run-scoring single off of Spencer Schwellenbach in the third inning that plated Johan Rojas. That would be all of the offense that they could muster in the contest. The 31-year-old shortstop has been terrific when he has been on the field this season, hitting .340/.383/.505 with seven homers, 23 RBI and 11 stolen bases in 50 games.
