Siri's playing time has been rather stable despite a lackluster season at the plate with a .670 OPS. He's still chipped in 14 homers and 10 steals though, which is all we can ask for.
Quite the rebound from a guy who was 0-5 with a 9.67 ERA in his previous six starts. A Jose Siri homer was one of just two hits and two hard-hit balls Rodon surrendered. The win was his first since June 10, when he was 9-2 with a 2.93 ERA for the season. He's 10-7 with a 4.42 ERA now.
The first homer featured an incredible 37.7-second trot, apparently in response to Jose Siri's faster-but-still-quite-slow 30-second trot after his homer two innings earlier. Soto has 19 hits in his last nine games, raising his average from .291 to .311. He's up to 25 homers now, having reached that mark for the fifth time in his career.
Lively struck out seven and walked two on the day while inducing nine whiffs on 35 swings for a 26 percent whiff rate and 34 percent CSW. Unfortunately, he allowed solo home runs to Jose Siri and Brandon Lowe, and that was the difference. Lively has been a tremendous surprise for the Guardians, carrying a 3.58 ERA into the second half of the season. As of now, he's scheduled to start on Saturday against the Padres next week.
Cortes gave up seven hits, walked two and struck out four. Cortes had posted a quality start in four of his last five games, but was hit hard in this one. Randy Arozarena hit a home run in his first at-bat, but Yandy Diaz and Jose Siri both hit doubles with at least 100 mph exit velocity that easily could've been home runs as well. Cortes' ERA is up to 3.67 on the year.
