NBC SportsAaron Civale yielded two runs in 4 2/3 innings and struck out five Monday in a loss to the Braves.

Civale pitched four scoreless innings before giving up a homer and a double in the fifth. After he was lifted, DL Hall surrendered another homer, scoring the inherited runner. Civale has allowed one or two runs in each of four of his starts since coming the injured list last month, though he's pitched a total of 19 innings in those games The Brewers' quick hooks will continue to help his ERA, but they make him a weaker bet from wins. He's slated to face the Cardinals next.

NBC SportsBrought in after DL Hall opened with three scoreless innings, Quinn Priester pitched five innings of one-run ball for a win Wednesday against the Reds.

Priester, now 3-2 with a 3.88 ERA, wouldn't normally be a mixed-league guy, but he's a lot more interesting if the Brewers keep using him like this, since his chances of recording a win go way up. He also relieved Hall last time out against the Phillies and got a win for allowing two runs in six innings then. He had only one win in his seven starts. Priester appeared due to lose his spot or at least take on a diminished role with Brandon Woodruff returning, but since that's been pushed back again, the Brewers will probably stay the course for now. Priester is due to face the Braves next time out.

NBC SportsWill Benson is starting in right field and batting eighth on Wednesday against the Brewers.

The Brewers are starting left-hander DL Hall, but he should likely only throw three innings, so the Reds may be playing Benson in the hopes that he faces Hall once at most. Still, both Jake Fraley and Gavin Lux are on the bench, so it's a nice sign for Benson's playing time that he remains in the starting lineup.

NBC SportsQuinn Priester allowed two runs over six innings of relief work to secure a victory Friday against the Phillies.

The Brewers got through this one using just two pitchers, setting them up nicely for the rest of the series. Priester was also eligible for the save after coming in with a 2-0 lead, but no one else was eligible for the win, since DL Hall didn't pitch the required five innings as a starter. Priester has a 2.63 ERA in 27 1/3 innings over his last five appearances, lowering his overall ERA from 5.79 to 4.09. Even so, he still might lose his spot soon with Jose Quintana returning Sunday and Brandon Woodruff perhaps being activated next week.

NBC SportsDL Hall pitched three hitless innings and struck out four in a start against the Phillies on Friday.

Hall was described as an opener, but three innings is a bit more than one expects from a "traditional" opener. Hall threw 44 pitches and allowed no hard-hit balls. The Brewers probably aren't going to extend him beyond this kind of outing anytime soon, so it's going to be difficult for him to generate fantasy value. Still, he looks like he'll be quite helpful to Milwaukee's cause.
