Bucs WR Chris Godwin suffered an apparent left ankle injury in the fourth quarter of Monday night's loss to the Ravens. He was carted off the field with the leg in an air cast. This obviously looks like a serious, potentially season-ending injury. We'll update Godwin's status when we know more. The Bucs lost WR Mike Evans to an aggravation of his hamstring injury earlier in this game. That leaves Jalen McMillan, Sterling Shepard, and Trey Palmer as their top healthy WRs.
Hamstring for Evans, Dislocated ankle for Godwin Buccaneers believe WR Chris Godwin dislocated his ankle. (Adam Schefter on X) FF Today's Take: We saw a number of injuries in Week 7 including two on Monday night to starting Buccaneers wide receivers. Mike Evans left early, aggravating his hamstring injury. Chris Godwin was injured with under a minute left in the game and appears to have suffered a dislocated ankle that will likely end his season. Tampa's Week 8 game against the Falcons could feature Jalen McMillan, Sterling Shepard and Trey Palmer at receiver.
Jalen McMillan was back for this game, but the Bucs stuck with Shepard as their WR3 and got him involved in a number of ways, as evidenced by his role on the ground. He picked up 24 yards on a jet sweep in the fourth quarter that could have gone for even more. Shepard turned upfield along the sideline but couldn't walk the tightrope and eventually fell out of bounds. Shepard isn't on the fantasy radar, but his role in the offense is large enough to quell any excitement surrounding McMillan.
Backup wide receiver Kameron Johnson was also ruled out. Jalen McMillan has a chance to play through his hamstring injury. If he can't go, Sterling Shepard will remain the Bucs' WR3 for Week 6.
The vet's second quarter score was one of just two targets he drew with Jalen McMillan and Trey Palmer on the shelf. Shepard was an interesting Week 4 story after he popped up for 3/51, but he's going to be in a weekly fight to keep his 53-man roster spot, let alone become fantasy relevant.
