Diggs should once again be considered one of the best Fantasy receivers this season, and he's worth drafting toward the end of Round 1 or beginning of Round 2 in all leagues. In three seasons in Buffalo, Diggs has averaged at least 19.8 PPR points per game in two of those campaigns. He has three years in a row with at least 103 catches, 1,225 yards, eight touchdowns and 154 targets, and he's proven to be an elite Fantasy option since being paired with Josh Allen in 2020. Once Justin Jefferson, Ja'Marr Chase, Cooper Kupp and Tyreek Hill are drafted, Diggs should be the next receiver off the board in the majority of leagues given his consistent production in Buffalo and what is expected of him once again in 2023.
Diggs performed as a no-doubt WR1 last year, and there was nothing in his profile to forecast a major decline.
The 30-year-old (in November) might face stiffer target competition if Round 1 TE Dalton Kincaid can hit the ground running. But entering year four alongside Josh Allen, this duo has clear chemistry.
Diggs remains a top-6 WR across formats.
What We Learned Last YearDiggs, 29, remained a strong WR1 in 2022. He finished top-5 in both total PPR points and PPR points per game. The former Viking finished as a top-12 fantasy WR eight times. He ranked inside the top-24 11 times.Diggs set a career-high with 11 TDs and 9.3 yards per target. It's hard to call Diggs' TD success fluky. He saw 30% of Buffalo's red zone targets, a mark only five WRs beat. He’s now tied for the league lead in catches over the past three seasons (338).Diggs “missed” only one game – the Bills-Bengals cancelation (Week 17).Diggs still has not missed a game due to injury in three seasons with the Bills.Among 60 WRs with 70+ targets, Diggs ranked top-seven in yards per route run and Pro Football Focus receiving grade. He sat 15th in catch rate. Diggs ran 34.2% of his routes out of the slot – a sizable jump from his 2021 usage (20.9%).Josh Allen, now 100% healthy, played through a partially torn elbow ligament after Week 9. Diggs recorded fewer than 50 yards in four games after the injury; zero prior.
What to Expect in 2023Buffalo will run it back in 2023 with all of the same key pieces. Dalton Kincaid arrived as the first Round 1 pass catcher during the Josh Allen era. He won’t have a meaningful impact on Diggs’ targets.OC Ken Dorsey returns for year two after orchestrating an offense that ranked third in pass rate over expected (6.1%) last year. There are no volume concerns here.Josh Allen ranked third in PFF passing grade and remains squarely in his prime at 27.Diggs turns 30 in November. It’s not yet an age that gives us pause based on Diggs’ current form.Diggs was absent from voluntary OTAs in May. He’s voiced frustration with the Bills’ inability to get to the Super Bowl but eventually showed up for June minicamp. Diggs is under contract through the 2027 season.
Since joining the Bills in 2020, Diggs ranks no lower than fifth among wide receivers in targets, receptions, receiving yards and fantasy points. He finished all three seasons as a top-7 fantasy scorer and, in 2022, his nine top-10 fantasy outings tied for most. Diggs has produced at least 1,000 receiving yards in five consecutive seasons and took his game to another level with a career-high 11 TDs last season. Diggs is still in his prime at age 29 and is set up for another massive target share in Buffalo's high-scoring, pass-heavy offense. Consider Diggs a midrange WR1.
