Gunnar Helm caught all four of his passes for 49 yards and a touchdown in the Titans' Week 15 loss to the 49ers.Helm ran a nice route in the first half and was left wide open for an easy, walk-in 34-yard touchdown catch. He is an athletic tight end and possesses a little bit of fantasy upside if this Titans offense could get anything going. However, that is more of a question for next season, and Helm is also stuck in a bit of a committee with Chig Okonkwo, so it's hard to rely on him outside of deeper two-tight-end leagues. He's an intriguing stash in dynasty leagues though. There is something here.
Gunnar Helm: Strong showing against SFHelm recorded four receptions on four targets for 49 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 37-24 loss to the 49ers.
Cam Ward completed 18-of-29 passes for 170 yards and two touchdowns in the Titans' 37-24, Week 15 loss to the 49ers.Ward has become a more efficient game manager as the season has gone on, which is a compliment to the rookie based on how the beginning of the season went. He eluded rushers in the pocket, extended some plays with his legs, and threw the ball away instead of taking unnecessary shots downfield. His touchdown throw to Gunnar Helm in the first half was a frozen rope, but he also missed a wide-open Van Jefferson for a potential 40-yard touchdown in the second quarter. Ward remains inconsistent, but this Titans offense is not as giving to opposing defenses as it had been earlier, which is a step in the right direction. We'd like to see them let Ward take a few more shots down the field, considering they're 2-12 and fully in development mode. Perhaps next week, against a Chiefs team that was just eliminated from the playoffs, would be the right time.
Titans' Cam Ward throws 34-yard TD to Gunnar Helm, trimming deficit against 49ers NFL HighlightsCam Ward threw a 34-yard TD to Gunnar Helm that trimmed the Tennessee Titans deficit to 14-10 against the San Francisco 49ers.
Gunnar Helm caught 1-of-2 targets for eight yards in the Titans' Week 14 win over the Browns.Today snapped a streak of three straight four-catch performances for the rookie fourth-rounder. There just wasn't any volume in the Titans' passing attack with Tony Pollard going bonkers on the ground. Cam Ward completed 14 passes, generating 117 yards in the process. Helm has showed enough that he can be considered a potential future TE1 -- emphasis on "potential" -- but even TE2 status will be difficult to come by during the fantasy playoffs with Chig Okonkwo still successfully vying for looks down the seam.
