Chargers Offense is Killing Ladd McConkeyWR Ladd McConkey led the Chargers in pass routes in Sunday's win over the Chiefs, according to Pro Football Focus numbers. But that didn't equate to usable fantasy production. He managed just 2 receptions for 20 yards while trailing three teammates in targets. WR Keenan Allen led the team with seven targets and 5 receptions. Allen took those for just 36 yards, though. TE Oronde Gadsden and WR Tre Harris tied for second at five targets. Gadsden posted a 4-61 receiving line, ranking second on the team in catches and leading the way in receiving yards. Harris tallied 3 receptions for 49 yards.
Oronde Gadsden II caught 4-of-5 targets for 61 yards in the Chargers' Week 15 win against the Chiefs. It was Gadsden's first game with more than two receptions since early November, and he led all Chargers pass catchers in receiving yards in another low-volume outing for Justin Herbert in an increasingly run-heavy LA offense. Gadsden logged a pass route on 22 of the Chargers' 32 drop backs against KC. It's a decent rate, but one that keeps Gadsden as a thin option in 12-team fantasy leagues. Gadsden should be in lineups next week against a vulnerable Dallas coverage unit.
Oronde Gadsden: Team-high yardage total in winGadsden brought in four of five targets for 61 yards in the Chargers' 16-13 win over the Chiefs on Sunday.
Oronde Gadsden caught 1-of-4 targets for seven yards in the Chargers' Week 14 win over the Eagles.Gadsden's four targets actually ranked second on the team behind the five of Ladd McConkey, highlighting the defensive deadlock the Chargers found themselves in against the defending Super Bowl Champions. It has now been more than a month since Gadsden has caught more than three balls, although his emergence in the offense gives offensive coordinator Greg Roman yet another chess piece to attack opposing defenses. Gadsden could be busier in Week 15 when the Chargers take on the Chiefs on the road.
Quentin Johnston caught 2-of-3 targets for eight yards in the Chargers' Week 14 win over the Eagles.Johnston saw his fair share of lockdown coverage from Quinyon Mitchell in this one, although his three targets were largely a product of only 26 Justin Herbert pass attempts on a night the Los Angeles defense stepped up with five takeaways. Johnston remains a touchdown-dependent fantasy asset in a now-crowded receiving corps due to the emergence of tight end Oronde Gadsden, with the ever-present potential to see his volume curbed due to the strength of their defense and absence of the team's starting tackles.
