Dylan Sampson
2025 Season Outlooks
Sampson was selected by Cleveland in the fourth round of April's draft. He is one of the smallest and youngest RBs (20) in this class. He was an effective collegiate rusher (5.9 YPC), but wasn't used much in the pass game (1.5 targets per game). He's tough and makes plays, but his size could limit his touch ceiling. Sampson's fantasy outlook is less than ideal, as second-round rookie Quinshon Judkins is the team's short- and long-term lead back, with Jerome Ford possibly a factor in 2025 as well. Sampson is barely worth late-round consideration, but is a fine dynasty hold.
Sampson averaged 8.5 carries per game with at least 5 or more rushing yards in his final season at Tennessee.
At the combine, he measured 5-foot-8 and weighed 200 pounds. Dion Lewis is the only running back with over 2,000 snaps at that size in the past decade.
Sampson’s new head coach, Kevin Stefanski, has never had a running back like Sampson. In Cleveland, every running back who has received a snap has been at least 5-foot-10. The closest comparison in his time with the Vikings was Jerick McKinnon, when Stefanski was a running backs coach, and Ameer Abdullah, when he was the offensive coordinator.
