Omarion Hampton
2025 Season Outlooks
Hampton was selected by the Chargers in the first round of April's draft. He is a big, tough back whose career 3.85 YAC is fourth best in this class. He's more downhill than he is agile, but he impressed in the 40, vertical and broad at the combine. Hampton is a capable pass catcher, and he figures to land a three-down role in the pros. He'll defer some carries to Najee Harris and targets may be limited in the Jim Harbaugh/Greg Roman scheme, but there will be enough volume to allow RB2 fantasy production.
Hampton is among the top-10 FBS running backs over the last eight seasons in terms of his average max speed based on PFF's tracking data. Breece Hall and Keaton Mitchell are the only current running backs faster in the NFL.
Chargers’ offensive coordinator Greg Roman is known for establishing the run. When he served as the offensive coordinator for the Baltimore Ravens, Buffalo Bills, and San Francisco 49ers, their teams ranked first, first, and third, respectively, in team rushing attempts during his tenure.
Najee Harris shouldn’t be a significant roadblock in Hampton’s touches. Harris only signed a one-year contract with less guaranteed money than backs like Devin Singletary and Antonio Gibson the year before.
