Jets HC Aaron Glenn said he will have an answer on his Week 16 QB by Wednesday.Glenn's delayed decision to name a starter could be due to injuries, as Justin Fields (knee) and Tyrod Taylor (groin) were both unable to play in Week 15, or he just wants more time to evaluate his QB room full of backups. Brady Cook threw for 176-1-3 in his first career start against the Jaguars in Week 15, and would get the Saints in Week 16 if he were to be named the starter. The situation is a clear: ?\_(?)_/?
Isaiah Williams caught 6-of-7 targets for 53 yards in the Jets' Week 15 loss to the Jaguars. It was a career day for Williams, who ranked second among Jets receivers in routes (30) and third in snaps (41). Williams has played primarily on special teams this season and currently leads the league in punt return yards (396) and has two punt return touchdowns. He seemed to show good chemistry with Brady Cook, who he has presumably spent a lot of time with in practice, but his strong performance in Week 15 could warrant a stronger look over the final three weeks of the season. Williams has played 30-plus snaps and run 20-plus routes in back-to-back weeks. He's worth a stash in deeper leagues ahead of next week's game against the Saints.
Jets' Brady Cook reflects on first-career start, TD pass: 'A moment I won't forget'While the Jets took a frustrating step backward in Sunday's blowout loss to the Jaguars, their undrafted rookie quarterback produced a highlight he'll always remember.
Adonai Mitchell caught 6-of-9 targets for 58 yards and a touchdown in the Jets' Week 15 loss to the Jaguars.Mitchell's second touchdown in three weeks was a nine-yard strike from Brady Cook in the second quarter. It was an end zone laser where Mitchell displayed sure hands. All three of Mitchell's catches, targets and yards were his second most as a Jet since arriving from Indianapolis. Good stuff, but this is probably about his ceiling right now with Gang Green down to its No. 3 quarterback. We have no idea who will be under center for Week 16 in New Orleans, but Cook is probably the favorite. Mitchell will be a passable WR4 no matter who gets the call.
Breece Hall rushed 12 times for 23 yards in the Jets' Week 15 loss to the Jaguars, adding two receptions for 14 yards. With the Jets falling behind 21-7 early in the second quarter and 31-10 at halftime, Hall ended up posting his second fewest rushing yards of the season as Gang Green lamentably had to dial up 33 pass attempts for UDFA Brady Cook. Stuck on one total touchdown over his past five games, Hall is having trouble rising above low-end, workload-based RB2 status. Hopefully that will not include for Week 16, where the Jets will be taking on a team more of their own size in the Saints.
