Jawhar Jordan News

NBC SportsTexans declared WR Nico Collins, T Trent Brown, RB Jawhar Jordan, QB Graham Mertz, and WR Justin Watson inactive for the Divisional Round against the Patriots.

Collins, who sustained a head injury in the Wild Card round against the Chargers, did not practice this week and was ruled out on Friday. It's a massive blow to the Houston offense. Christian Kirk, who had 144 yards and a score last week against LA, and Jayden Higgins will profile as the team's top two receivers with Collins out. Brown tried to play but was unable to fight through an injury.

NBC SportsTexans RB Jawhar Jordan (ankle) was removed from the injury report and will play in the Divisional Round against the Patriots.

Jordan practiced fully on Friday, which is a great sign. He was unable to play in the Wild Card Round after injuring his ankle in Week 18. We expect Jordan to handle No. 2 rushing duties behind starting RB Woody Marks, though Marks could ultimately dominate touches.

NBC SportsTexans RB Jawhar Jordan (ankle) was limited in Thursday's practice.

Two sessions would seemingly give him a real chance to suit up, though it's unclear if the Texans would make him the No. 2 back ahead of Nick Chubb after Chubb's output against the Steelers last Monday night. Jordan is probably trending towards a questionable tag on Friday.

NBC SportsTexans RB Jawhar Jordan (ankle) was limited in Wednesday's practice.

Jordan suffered an ankle injury in Week 18 which caused him to miss the Wild Card win over the Steelers. The 26-year-old played well in a reserve role and was the Texans' RB2 in Week 18 with Nick Chubb a healthy scratch. A limited practice session early in the week indicates Jordan is trending to return in the Divisional Round against the Patriots, though the Texans may keep both Jordan and Chubb active behind Woody Marks if Jordan is not fully healthy.

NBC SportsWoody Marks rushed 19 times for 112 yards and a touchdown in the Texans' Wild Card win over the Steelers.

Marks was the primary engine of the offense against a stout Pittsburgh defensive front, keeping the wheels turning throughout to eventually find himself with a career-high 99 yards with under five minutes left to play. He would break through in a big way and eclipse the 100-yard threshold for the first time in his career on his final touch of the game, taking a handoff 13 yards to the house to send the Steelers into their offseason. Furthermore, he handled the vast majority of the backfield work in the absence of Jawhar Jordan, with veteran Nick Chubb doing most of the heavy lifting with the game in hand in the fourth quarter. Chubb ended with a respectable 48 yards on 10 carries. Marks could be tasked with another robust workload when the Texans travel to face the Patriots in Foxboro, which presents yet another difficult matchup on the ground for the rookie back.
