NBC SportsZach Ertz caught all four of his targets for 62 yards in the Commanders' Week 2 win over the Giants.

Ertz's highlight of the day was a 21-yard reception to open the second half. Jayden Daniels threw a deep floater to the veteran tight end that Giants safety Jason Pinnock broke on for a likely interception. Ertz ripped the ball from Pinnock's hands to save the interception and come up with a chunk gain. He finished the day with a team-high in receiving yards. Ertz isn't an exciting fantasy option, but he's an every-down player who knows the system. He is a viable TE2 off the waiver wire for fantasy managers desperate at the tight end position.

NBC SportsTerry McLaurin caught 6-of-8 targets for 22 yards in the Commanders' Week 2 win over the Giants.

The bulk of McLaurin's targets came around the line of scrimmage. Offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury tried to get him going with some layup targets but the veteran wideout couldn't turn them into anything. McLaurin now has 39 receiving yards on the year. Zach Ertz topped that number in Week 2 alone. Jayden Daniels' struggles as a passer have trickled down to McLaurin and it's going to take time for the rookie to find his footing. The decrease in passing volume via Daniels' rushing hasn't helped either. Until the Commanders' offense improves, McLaurin will struggle to get beyond a WR3 rank.

NBC SportsZach Ertz caught 3-of-4 passes for 28 yards in the Commanders' Week 1 loss to the Bucs.

Believe it or not, that was the most receiving yards of any non-running back on the Commanders. Ertz is the top tight end in Washington and is on the field enough to warrant fantasy appeal, but this passing attack doesn't seem like one that is going to generate a lot of fantasy value early in the season. Ertz can be left on wires in most formats.

NBC SportsZach Ertz is listed as the Commanders' No. 1 tight end on the team's Week 1 depth chart.

Ben Sinnott, meanwhile, is listed as the TE3 behind Ertz and John Bates. Taken in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft, Sinnott appears to have a ways to go before he works as Washington's primary pass-catching tight end. Ertz, 33, who has a long history with Commanders offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury, should do most of the tight end route running to start the season.
