McLaughlin scored a receiving touchdown last week but hasn't topped 10 touches in a game since Week 1. His role also took a hit this week with Audric Estime pitching in for five carries. McLaughlin was on the fantasy periphery without Estime stealing carries and is now off the radar entirely heading into Week 10 against the Chiefs.
Williams was inefficient per usual, rushing for 3.5 yards per carry. His longest gain of the day went for a measly seven yards. He marginally made up for the lack of rushing production with a 34-yard reception, getting him to 80 yards from scrimmage for the fourth time this year. Audric Estime and Jaleel McLaughlin combined for 10 rush attempts. Williams is the leader of a backfield-by-committee and isn't creating additional yards beyond what is blocked. He is stuck in the RB3 ranks heading into Week 10.
Williams was given plenty of touches, but didn't do much with them. His long carry on the day was nine yards, and he wasn't able to find running room against a not-exactly-dominant Carolina defense. Despite out-carrying Jaleel McLaughlin 17-8, McLaughlin had more yards (47) and also added a nine-yard touchdown reception It still seems likely that Williams will be the RB1 for the Week 9 bout against the Ravens.
McLaughlin had half the touches that JaVonte Williams received, but McLaughlin was the far more effective player in the blowout win (don't let the 28-14 score fool you, this wasn't close). His nine-yard touchdown on a scramble from Bo Nix gave Denver a 28-7 lead, and while McLaughlin didn't break anything for long yardage, he was much more consistent with his touches. He still will all-but-assuredly be the RB2 for Week 9's tilt against the Ravens.
