Gannon said McBride's prospects look "good" for this Sunday's game against the 49ers after he missed Week 4 against Washington. McBride's late week practice participation will be key if he's going to suit up against the Niners. Elijah Higgins would once again work as the team's TE1 if McBride can't go.
Filling in for Trey McBride (concussion), some fantasy managers hoped Higgins, a former receiver, could turn into a quality one-week fantasy option. That didn't quite come to fruition, as Higgins managed just two receptions on three targets for a forgettable Week 4. McBride is expected to return in Week 5 against the 49ers if he clears concussion protocol.
Cardinals down a pass catcher against Commanders #AZCardinals coach Jonathan Gannon tells reporters that TE Trey McBride is out Sunday because of a concussion. (Ian Rapoport on X) FF Today's Take: McBride is second on the team in targets (21) so this will be a big loss for Arizona and fantasy owners. Backup tight ends Elijah Higgins and Tip Reiman played a similar amount of snaps last week but Reiman is still looking for his first target of the season. Higgins is the better fantasy option if you're looking for a fill-in.
Cardinals TE Trey McBride (concussion) is out for Sunday s game vs. the Commanders. He should have a good chance to clear protocol in time for Week 5, but we ll track his progress next week. McBride s absence leaves Arizona with TEs Elijah Higgins and Tip Reiman. Higgins, a converted college WR, is the better bet for fantasy points. Hopefully you don t need him in season-long lineups, but Higgins is an interesting flier in DFS tournaments.
Even a limited Friday practice would put McBride on track to be cleared, but it's not looking likely at this point. McBride's absence would funnel ever more looks Marvin Harrison's way and likely trickle down to Greg Dortch and Michael Wilson, as well. No. 2 TE Elijah Higgins wouldn't be worth a fantasy stream because the 2023 sixth-rounder's resume is just so thin.
