Geno Smith: Status for Week 16 uncertainRaiders head coach Pete Carroll said declined Monday to state whether Smith (shoulder/back) is expected too practice Wednesday or return to action for Sunday's matchup against the Texans, Ryan McFadden of ESPN.com reports.
Tre Tucker was held without a catch on three targets in the Raiders' Week 15 loss to the Eagles. With Kenny Pickett making his first start in place of Geno Smith, Tucker was held without a grab for the first time all season. Not that he, or really anybody in this Raiders offense, has been producing of late. With a limited floor and several months without a ceiling effort, Tucker is out of sight, out of mind for the fantasy playoffs.
Jack Bech caught 2-of-3 targets for 17 yards in the Raiders' Week 15 loss to the Eagles.Bech's 17 yards were actually second on the team, if you want to know how the Raiders' road trip went. Things won't get any better for Week 16, where they will visit Houston to face the Texans' elite pass defense. Whether it is Kenny Pickett or Geno Smith under center for Vegas, Bech will be out of WR4 spots in fantasy.
Ashton Jeanty rushed nine times for 35 yards in the Raiders' Week 15 loss to the Eagles, adding four receptions for seven yards. This was a classic "be thankful he got even that many yards" performance as the Raiders were held to 75 yards of offense on 42 total plays. They managed all of seven first downs as Kenny Pickett failed to improve on Geno Smith's dismal play in Pete Carroll's archaic offense. Things could remain just as bad for Week 16, with the Raiders staying on the road, this time to face one of the only defenses more imposing than the Eagles in the Texans. It's probably time to face the truth that Jeanty can no longer even be counted on as an RB2, though there's a solid chance you have already been eliminated if he was one of your first two picks.
Brock Bowers Had No Chance This WeekRaiders TE Brock Bowers led the team in targets, receptions, and receiving yards in Sunday's loss to the Eagles. But that produced just a 6-28-0 receiving line on eight looks. QB Kenny Pickett threw for a mere 64 yards on 15-of-25 passing in place of the injured Geno Smith. RB Ashton Jeanty was the only other Raider to catch more than two passes.
