Wide receiver Puka Nacua said on Thursday that he is holding out hope that there might be a way for the Rams to work things out with Cooper Kupp, but it doesn't look like there's much chance that the two players are going to be teammates during the 2025 season.
Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp is on the trade block.
This episode of McCoy & Van Noy dives into the Super Bowl LIX matchup set for Sunday, as well as interviews with Rams WR Puka Nacua, Saints DE Cams Jordan and journalist Bomani Jones all live from Radio Row in New Orleans.
Kupp announced via his X account that the team is looking to move on from him "immediately". Per Kupp, he is looking for "the right place to continue competing for championships." While it sounds like a stunning turn of events, the veteran wideout fell off the map at the end of the 2024 season. He was held under two catches in three of his final five games and went for more than 30 yards once during that stretch. Puka Nacua fully supplanted him as the team's top receiver and the counting stats bore that out. Kupp has plenty of juice left as a possession receiver and should fetch a solid return for the Rams in the trade market. Contending teams like the Chiefs, Bills, and Bucs are all candidates to land Kupp once the Rams start making calls.
Widely considered a strictly boundary option coming into the league, Thomas made the most of his slot opportunities. Twenty-eight percent of Thomas' 2024 routes came from the slot, and only Puka Nacua and Marvin Mims had a higher yards per route run from the slot. "I did not know he had the ability to do what he did in the slot," Coen said. "I probably didn't evaluate him hard enough, but also, they did a good job getting that right." Only six receivers had more yards after the catch on slot targets than Thomas in 2024. He was fifth in wideout receiving yards as a rookie. Coen's offense could funnel more short-area targets to Thomas in 2025, making him an elite fantasy option in all formats.
