NBC SportsTank Dell was seen returning kickoffs with the second-team special teams unit alongside Dameon Pierce in practice.

Asked by a reporter if he is ready to contribute on special teams, Dell said, "Am I ready? I'm ready for everything, you know?" HC DeMeco Ryans furthered the point, adding "With the new kickoff rule, I think you'll see a lot of teams using many more skill players at the return position." His goal is to find out" who's best at really creating explosive plays" as a returner. The Texans passing offense generated explosive, 15-plus-yard plays at the league's third-highest rate (16.7 percent) last year so it comes as no surprise that Ryans' goal remains the same on special teams. Should Dell win the role, his return usage would provide a slight edge in leagues that award points for special teams production.

NBC SportsC.J. Stroud said "I want to definitely attack down the field more this year."

After an impressive rookie season in which he threw for 4108-23-5 while walking away with Offensive Rookie of the Year honors, Stroud is looking for more this season. Per PFF, Stroud led all quarterbacks with a 9.4 ADOT last season (min. 300 dropbacks), but ranked 14th in deep attempts (57). With that in mind, Stroud's deep completion percentage (56.1 percent) was second only to Brock Purdy, while his 1,111 yards on said attempts also ranked second. Stroud has an explosive wide receiver corps that includes Nico Collins, Stefon Diggs, and Tank Dell. More deep shots from last year's ADOT leader is exactly the kind of thing fantasy managers want to hear heading into the season.

NBC SportsKPRC2's Aaron Wilson reports Nico Collins (shoulder) is expected to be ready when the Texans open training camp.

Collins was sidelined throughout the spring as he recovered from offseason shoulder surgery. Fresh off signing a new three-year, $72 million deal, the Texans are hoping Collins can replicate the success he had in 2023, which led to a breakout campaign that saw him total 80 receptions for 1,297 yards and eight touchdowns in 15 games. Collins posted career numbers across the board while also averaging a career-high 16.2 YPR in Bobby Slowik's offense. The 6-foot-4, 215-pound receiver will face stiff target competition with the arrival of Stefon Diggs and Tank Dell (ankle) returning from injury, but Collins should still have plenty of upside as a high-end WR2 in an offense that's expected to take a massive leap forward after last year's success.
