Broncos coach Sean Payton said the Broncos have "got to continue to find more touches for" Marvin Mims "on the offensive side of the ball and we'll do that."Mims has just four targets since October 19. The meaning of "more" would appear almost limitless when weighed against that. Still, for those of you holding on in dynasty leagues as the third-year receiver fell behind Pat Bryant, this could be the little bit of hope you needed to realize "wait, Marvin Mims was still on my roster?"
Troy Franklin's in TroubleThe past two weeks have seen Broncos WR Troy Franklin go from challenging Courtland Sutton's lead-target status to barely involved in the passing game. He followed a Week 13 dip in usage by running a season-low 17 routes in Sunday's win over the Raiders. That marked just a 39.5% rate vs. Denver's 43 dropbacks. Franklin still ranked third among Broncos WRs in that category but trailed well behind No. 2 Pat Bryant (67.4%) and narrowly led No. 4 Marvin Mims Jr. (34.9%). Franklin ranked fifth among Denver wideouts in total snaps, trailing -- in order -- Sutton, Bryant, Lil'Jordan Humphrey, and Mims.
Marvin Mims caught 1-of-1 targets for five yards in the Broncos' Week 14 win over the Raiders.Mims' receiving role is almost a non-factor, but the shifty wide receiver did manage to return a second-quarter punt for a 48-yard touchdown, marking his first such trip to the end zone. Mims also rushed once for two yards. He does not need to be rostered in re-draft leagues.
Pat Bryant caught 3-of-7 targets for 42 yards in the Broncos' Week 13 win over the Commanders.Bryant's seven targets ranked second on the team behind veteran tight end Evan Engram, likely bolstered by the zone-heavy nature of Dan Quinn's Washington defense. That also limited Bryant's ability to break free downfield, which has been his calling card since earning more work in Week 5. Most notable was the fact that he continued to play well ahead of Marvin Mims, which appears likely to continue as we head down the back stretch of the regular season.
