Considered week-to-week Seahawks WR DK Metcalf - who left Sunday s win over Atlanta with a knee injury - suffered a Grade 1 sprained MCL and now will be considered week to week , per source. (ESPN - Adam Schefter) FF Today's Take: It's a bummer for one of the league's more durable receivers, but the good news is that he may not miss any games. (Roome Odunze played through a similar injury earlier this season.) With that said, Metcalfe's specific injury usually carries a recovery timeline of 1-3 weeks. As such, Seattle could easily decide to sit him for the next two games leading into its Week 10 bye to give him almost a month to get right. Jake Bobo is expected to step into his role in the offense, although Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Tyler Lockett should be considered strong WR3 options at worst in his absence.
Metcalf is now considered week-to-week. The injury occurred during the Seahawks' Week 7 victory over the Falcons, and saw the 6-foot-4 wideout carted off the field late in the contest. If Metcalf can't go it will lead to increased targets for Tyler Lockett and Jaxon Smith-Njigba, and Jake Bobo will likely be the third wideout for Week 8 against the Bills.
Smith-Njigba had a down day after recording 17 cathces over the past three games. Geno Smith nearly hit Smith-Njigba for a long gain in the first half -- a rare deep look for slot guys JSN. Smith-Njigba should continue as a decent WR3 option in a pass-heavy Seattle offense against the Bills in Week 8. His 6.5 yards per target makes JSN something of a PPR scam.
The Seattle Seahawks' Jaxon Smith-Njigba was the NFL's top separator in Week 6 of the 2024 season.
JSN has now reached nine targets in 3-of-6 contests. Not bad, though this evening's 53 yards were his second most of the season. It speaks to a high-floor, low-upside PPR dink-and-dunk game. It wasn't been working in the real world, with the Seahawks turning in three straight thoroughly mediocre offensive performances. JSN did at least get targeted in the end zone this evening, but it was, for some reason, on a pair of fades. That's not his game. Expect more of the same in Week 7 against the Falcons, where the Seahawks are unlikely to have the luxury of playing conservative.
