Garrett Wilson
2025 Season Outlooks
Start considering Wilson in Round 4 of your drafts as he looks to build on a career-best season as WR21 per game in PPR. Wilson's potential to dominate targets gives him a solid floor, but his pedestrian production through three NFL seasons can't be overlooked and might cap his upside. Despite receiving 147 or more targets in all three years of his career, he has never finished higher than WR21 per game. To have a true breakout season, Wilson will have to start making more explosive plays -- something he has struggled with since entering the league. Is Justin Fields the quarterback to unlock this potential? He was for D.J. Moore in 2023, so maybe Fields can recreate that magic with Wilson -- his former Ohio State teammate -- in 2025. Draft Wilson as a safe WR2 and keep your fingers crossed for a legit breakout.
Wilson is entering his fourth NFL season having produced at least 148 targets, 83 catches and 1,042 yards in each of his first three campaigns. Despite the presence of Davante Adams for two-thirds of last season, Wilson posted career highs in catches, yards and TDs. He finished sixth or better among WRs in targets all three seasons, but has yet to finish a season better than 20th in fantasy PPG due to underwhelming TD totals (14 in 51 games). Wilson's assured of a hefty target share, which will keep him fantasy-relevant, but his overall volume may suffer with dual-threat Justin Fields now under center. Wilson will need a lot to go right in order to produce at a WR1 level, so the 25-year-old is best viewed as a fringe top-20 receiver.
His three-year grade of 85.4 ranks 22nd-best among wide receivers with at least 500 routes run. A few of the wide receivers ahead of him are older, declining receivers, and some are coming back from injury, so it’s fair to expect Wilson to be considered at least a top-20 wide receiver, if not top 15.
He could see more playing time in the slot, as his new offensive coordinator, Tanner Engstrand, worked for several years with Amon-Ra St. Brown. Wilson has 1.97 yards per route run from the slot compared to 1.54 out wide during his career.
He reunites with his college quarterback, Justin Fields. That and the loss of Davante Adams should lead to a new career-high in target rate. However, Fields takes a high amount of sacks and scrambles, which will likely lead to fewer passes ending up in a targeted route.
