Tanner McKee News

NBC SportsThe Athletic's Mike Silver reports that the Eagles "might draft a quarterback this spring."

Silver adds that Eagles backup QB Tanner McKee "is also highly regarded within the building." Hurts reportedly "fashions himself" as the NFL's Michael Jordan, chasing excellence with a "hyper-focus that can come off as aloofness." He has reportedly "been the source of much internal frustration, including from teammates other than" WR A.J. Brown. That said, Hurts "likely isn't going anywhere anytime soon." There is "a sense inside the locker room" that head coach Nick Sirianni, general manager Howie Roseman and owner Jeffrey Lurie "are reluctant to criticize Hurts," and Lurie "remains confident that an offseason reset can thrust Philly back into Super Bowl contention." Hurts, 27, did not have a good year, but he led the team to a Super Bowl victory one year ago and has three years left on the five-year, $255 million extension.

NBC SportsJahan Dotson caught 3-of-8 targets for 40 yards in the Eagles' Week 18 loss to the Commanders.

Dotson saw increased opportunity with the Eagles resting most of their starters in Week 18. He was able to convert eight targets into only 40 yards, including a miscommunication with Tanner McKee that led to a goal line interception in the second quarter. Dotson will only see an increase in routes if A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith are out. Heading into the playoffs, he is the No. 3 wide receiver in the Eagles offense.

NBC SportsTank Bigsby rushed 16 times for 75 yards and a touchdown in the Eagles' Week 18 loss to the Commanders, adding one catch for 31 yards.

Bigsby got a chance to take over the backfield with Saquon Barkley resting in Week 18. He got 16-of-17 running back carries on the day, showing explosiveness on several touches. His singular reception came on a dump-off from Tanner McKee where Bigsby made a shifty cut and showed burst to take it 31 yards. His second touchdown of the season came on a two-yard rushing score in the third quarter. Bigsby was acquired by the Eagles mid-season and though he does not get a high volume of snaps regularly, he has shown to be a valuable backup to Barkley heading into the playoffs.

NBC SportsTanner McKee completed 21-of-40 passes for 241 yards, one touchdown and one interception in the Eagles' 24-17, Week 18 loss to the Commanders

McKee put together a middling performance playing with the Eagles' reserve squad. The Eagles were playing for the No. 2 seed in the NFC and battled to the end against the eliminated Commanders, dropping a one-score game and clinching the No. 3 seed. McKee made his second career start with Philadelphia resting its starters ahead of the playoffs. He threw a 15-yard touchdown to Grant Calcaterra in the second quarter to open scoring but threw an interception at the goal line later in the quarter. He struggled with inaccuracy in the fourth quarter when driving to tie or lead the game, ultimately sailing a fourth down pass out of bounds to end it. McKee is a career backup that will likely return to back up Jalen Hurts in 2026.
