Gardner Minshew saw himself benched for the second time this season in Sunday's loss to the Bengals. Offensive coordinator Luke Getsy, who can be partly blamed for Minshew's struggles, was dismissed following Sunday's loss. There's a lot for the Raiders to figure out heading into their Week 10 bye. Pierce is staring down the barrel of a one-and-done season as head coach if he's unable to right the ship. There's a good chance Desmond Ridder finds himself as the Raiders' starter when the team returns in Week 11 against the Dolphins, but we wouldn't expect him elevate the Raiders' offense any more than Minshew or Aidan O'Connell did.
Raiders coach Antonio Pierce did not commit to Desmond Ridder as the team's starting quarterback after Ridder replaced Gardner Minshew late in the third quarter Sunday.
Minshew completed 10 of 17 passes for 124 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions and rushed once for no gain before being replaced by Desmond Ridder with 5:02 remaining in the third quarter of Sunday's 41-24 loss to the Bengals.
Bowers was mainly quiet throughout the game, with just 23 receiving yards until the fourth quarter. He eventually scored on a 22-yard pass from Desmond Ridder in garbage time, appeasing fantasy managers with his box score. Outside of the box score, he drew a key defensive pass interference to prolong a scoring drive in the first quarter. The Raiders will have low opportunity amidst a struggling offense and struggling quarterbacks. However, Bowers is a top-two pass-catching option on the team and his rookie record-setting pace makes him a high-end TE1 moving forward.
The Raiders' ugly 2024 season is getting worse.
