Trey Benson Out Wednesday
Michael Carter
Michael Carter News
Trey Benson Out WednesdayCardinals RB Trey Benson (knee) did not practice on Wednesday. He was limited last Wednesday before missing the final two practices of the week, so it sure looks like he suffered a setback. Don't bank on Benson playing vs. the Rams this weekend. His absence would again leave Bam Knight as Arizona's lead back, with Michael Carter and potentially Emari Demercado, who was limited on Wednesday, handling passing downs.
Bam Knight Splits Time, Leads Work and ProductionThe Cardinals split time near-evenly between RBs in Sunday's loss at Tampa Bay. Michael Carter actually edged Bam Knight in total snaps, but Knight again led in touches and out-produced his teammate. Knight carried 11 times for 62 yards (5.6 yards per rush) to Carter's five carries for 17 yars (3.4). Carter beat Knight 6-3 in targets and 5-3 in receptions, but Knight still posted a nice 3-36-1 receiving line. Carter snagged 5 receptions for 47 yards.
Michael Carter rushed five times for 17 yards in the Cardinals' Week 13 loss to the Bucs, adding five receptions for 47 yards.Although Carter was out-touched 14-10 by Bam Knight, Pro Football Focus charted him as having the snap advantage. That's not particularly surprising with Arizona playing from behind on the road. Carter nevertheless watched Knight not only generate the only score out of the Cardinals' backfield, but through the air. That's supposed to be his department. It's unclear what anyone's department will be in Week 14 if Trey Benson finally returns from his knee injury against the Rams. With or without Benson, Carter will not be a recommended 12-team league FLEX unless you're truly desperate.
Bam Knight rushed 11 times for 62 yards in the Cardinals' Week 13 loss to the Bucs, adding three receptions for 36 yards and a touchdown. With Trey Benson (knee) still on the shelf, Knight got another week as the Cardinals' lead back, out-touching Michael Carter 14-10. Although Carter commanded more targets, it was Knight who got the receiving score when Jacoby Brissett hit him in stride for a 15-yarder in the waning moments of the third quarter. Knight's best overall game of the season comes just in time for a rough Week 14 matchup with the Rams, as well as the potential, if not likely, return of Benson. Even with four teams on bye for Week 14, those circumstances mean Knight should max out as a low-floor FLEX, and might not even be playable if Benson indeed returns.
Zonovan Knight ActiveCardinals RB Zonovan Knight (knee) is active for today s game vs. the Buccaneers. He was limited in practice all week and listed as questionable. If that knee holds up, Knight figures to control early-down work today. But RB Michael Carter will steal passing-down work. Try to avoid this backfield in fantasy lineups.
