Lions placed TE Brock Wright on injured reserve with a neck injury. The Lions placed No. 1 TE Sam LaPorta (back) on injured reserve earlier this year. Now the No. 2 tight end joins him. Unfortunately, fellow backup TE Shane Zylstra (knee) has also been ruled out for Week 14 against the Cowboys, leaving TE Ross Dwelley as the team's starter. The team also signed CB Nick Whiteside to the 53-man roster.
Cowboys-Lions Thursday Night Football Week 14 Preview: Odds, lines, best betsThe Lions are dealing with several injuries to pass catchers, leaving tight end Ross Dwelley in an unusually strong spot to produce.
Lions ruled out TE Brock Wright (neck) for Week 14 against the Cowboys.Fellow Lions TE Shane Zylstra (knee) is also out. With No. 1 TE Sam LaPorta (back) on injured reserve, TE Ross Dwelley will get the start. Dwelley warrants consideration in DFS tournaments, given the game's expectedly high-scoring environment but he is just a touchdown-dependent TE2 in re-draft formats.
David Montgomery rushed eight times for 32 yards and one touchdown in the Lions' Week 13 loss to the Packers, adding two receptions for 16 yards. The Lions deployed Montgomery in the wildcat near the goal line in this one. The first sequence resulted in a successful run to the right for a three-yard touchdown. The Lions tried it again later, this time asking Montgomery to throw a pass to TE Ross Dwelley, but the two were unable to connect. Regardless, Montgomery was able to return FLEX-worthy numbers on Thanksgiving. Be thankful. He is a decent FLEX option in what should be a high-scoring game against the Cowboys next week.
Brock Wright Out For Week 13Lions TE Brock Wright (neck) is out for Thursday's game vs. the Packers. He'd stepped in as Detroit's lead TE with Sam LaPorta out. Wright's absence leaves the Lions with TEs Anthony Firkser and Ross Dwelley. We wouldn't even mess with this situation in Thanksgiving daily contests.
