Taysom Hill

The Saints fooled around with a backfield by committee early in the game but eventually gave the bulk of the work to Neal. Unfortunately for the rookie, Miami's defense won the battle in the trenches more often than not, limiting him to 3.4 yards per carry. Backup Evan Hull finished the day with five carries for 15 yards. Taysom Hill only ran the ball once. Neal's workload is strong, but the Saints appear entirely incapable of supporting a fantasy RB2. Neal will be stuck in the RB3 ranks for Week 14.

Neal will presumably start with RB Alvin Kamara (knee/ankle) sidelined. The Dolphins' run defense allows 5.0 yards per carry and only two teams have allowed more explosive run plays than them (47). Saints TE Taysom Hill could handle a frustrating number of carries, particularly in the red zone, but Neal should at least operate as the lead running back on passing downs, while handling a reasonable rushing workload. Neal is an albeit uncomfortable borderline RB2/3.

Saints RB Alvin Kamara (knee, ankle) is out for Sunday s game vs. the Dolphins. He s not expected to be placed on IR, according to ESPN s Adam Schefter, so we should see Kamara back within the next few weeks. His absence this weekend leaves rookie Devin Neal as New Orleans likely lead back, although TE Taysom Hill and potentially RB Audric Estime will also be involved. Consider Neal just a RB3 or Flex play.

Kamara has dealt with the ankle injury for weeks. He sprained an MCL last week though, and is heading toward an absence in Week 13. Rookie RB Devin Neal (ankle) is expected to start in Kamara's stead. Neal can be treated as an RB2/3, though TE Taysom Hill will factor in.

It would be great to see Neal upgrade to full participation tomorrow. He is likely to start against the Dolphins' fantasy-friendly run defense with RB Alvin Kamara (knee/ankle) expectedly sidelined. Neal's experience on passing downs should be a plus, though TE Taysom Hill could steal carries from the rookie.
