Williams is one of a few Nets who have benefited from the absence of Cam Thomas, Cameron Johnson, Noah Clowney and Ben Simmons from the Brooklyn lineup. The 23-year-old small forward led the team in scoring with 21 points Saturday. He was two rebounds away from a double-double, recorded a steal and two blocks and drained two 3-pointers. As long as Williams continues to start, he'll be a viable fantasy option.
Thomas has appeared in just two games since November 25, and he'll remain sidelined through the All-Star break. Clowney was injured Monday against Sacramento and sat out Wednesday against Charlotte. Prior to sustaining the injury, he averaged over 30 minutes per game across his last 11 outings. With Cam Johnson also out until at least February 3 and potentially through the break, Brooklyn's roster is stripped down to the proverbial studs. Guys like Ziaire Williams, Jalen Wilson and Tyrese Martin will continue to see extended run for the foreseeable future.
The Nets announced Friday that Clowney will likely remain out through the All-Star break due to a left ankle sprain.
With Noah Clowney (ankle) sidelined, Williams returned to the starting lineup and was able to provide decent value in the blowout win. Williams has had some productive games as a starter this season, though availability has been an issue for him. Brooklyn is in tank mode, which should mean plenty of minutes and starts down the stretch for Williams. It's unclear how long Clowney will be out of the lineup, but as long as Williams is starting, he will be a decent streaming option. The Nets only have one more game this week, which is in Houston on Saturday.
With Noah Clowney (ankle) sidelined for this game, Williams will return to the starting lineup. He has averaged 11.5 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 16 starts this season.
