Dennis Schroder lit up the Cavaliers with 21 points (6-of-12 FGs), four rebounds, four assists and three three-pointers on Friday. The Kings starters weren't getting the job done in this game, and head coach Doug Christie quickly turned to the reserves. That allowed Schroder to have his first 20-point game in over a month. Schroder has been a solid reserve for the Kings this year, but that hasn't been enough for him to be worth rostering in most fantasy formats. Still, he's more than capable of producing, as he reminded us in this game.
Kings star Domantas Sabonis returns against Wizards after missing 27 games because of knee injurySacramento Kings star Domantas Sabonis returned Friday night against Washington after missing 27 games because of a partially torn meniscus in his left knee. The three-time All-Star forward/center came off the bench against the Wizards, entering with 5:11 left in the first quarter. Dennis Schroder also was active for the Kings after serving a three-game suspension for confronting Lakers star Luka Doncic after a game in Los Angeles on Dec. 28.
Russell Westbrook notched 15 points (6-of-12 FGs), six rebounds, 10 assists, one steal, one block and three three-pointers in Sunday's win over the Rockets. While Westbrook has consistently scored in double figures, double-doubles have been challenging to come by for the veteran point guard. The ten assists recorded against the Rockets were the most in a game for him since hitting that number in a December 18 overtime loss to the Trail Blazers. With Dennis Schroder serving the first game of a three-game suspension, Westbrook's 34 minutes were six more than he played in Friday's loss to the Kings.
Malik Monk finished Sunday's win over the Rockets with 15 points (6-of-12 FGs, 1-of-1 FTs), four rebounds, three assists and two three-pointers.For those who may have hoped that Dennis Schroder's three-game suspension would have cleared room in the Kings' rotation for Monk and Keon Ellis, Sunday night was a disappointment. Monk had no issue getting minutes, as his 26 led all five reserves who saw time. However, one game removed from being in the starting lineup, Ellis played seven minutes and grabbed one rebound. While Monk's night may inspire some optimism among deep-league managers heading into the Kings' four-game Week 13, it's tough to trust him or Ellis in fantasy basketball.
