Goodwin was one of the replacements in the Lakers' starting lineup Friday night. While the scoring wasn't there, he provided solid value in his 34 minutes. Like Jarred Vanderbilt (9/7/7/3 with one three-pointer in 24 minutes), Goodwin is a deep-league "dart throw" for managers left to go deep into the waiver wire for additional depth. With Luka Doncic potentially returning on Sunday, there's no need to add Goodwin or Vanderbilt for the Lakers' final Week 19 game against the Suns.
Finney-Smith and Vincent were initially doubtful for Friday's game, so the status downgrades are unsurprising. Dalton Knecht and Jarred Vanderbilt will take on more prominent positions within the Lakers' rotation, likely as starters. Luka Doncic and LeBron James are also out for Friday's game.
Redick provided good news on James, Rui Hachimura (knee) and Jaxson Hayes (knee) before Friday's game against the Nuggets, saying that all three are "very close" to returning. When that will happen wasn't made clear, so there should still be opportunities to stream some of the team's low-rostered players. Dalton Knecht and Jarred Vanderbilt are worth a look for Friday, while Dorian Finney-Smith has been more valuable when healthy (he is out on Friday).
Friday's game will be the eighth straight missed by Hachimura, who is dealing with left patellar tendinopathy. As for Hayes, he has missed the last four (counting Friday) with a right knee contusion. With Dorian Finney-Smith considered doubtful for Friday's game, the Lakers must rely more on Jarred Vanderbilt at the power forward position. He doesn't bring much to the table offensively, but the Lakers' lack of depth makes Vanderbilt a player worth considering in deep leagues.
Finney-Smith and Vincent, who started Thursday's loss to the Bucks, are trending toward not playing for injury management reasons. With LeBron James and Luka Doncic also out, the Lakers will be limited on the wings. Austin Reaves will shoulder a significant offensive workload, while Dalton Knecht and Jarred Vanderbilt may move into the starting lineup. Knecht will be worth streaming in deep leagues.
