Despite George s 35 points, the Sixers fell to a 120-117 loss to the Hawks on Sunday at State Farm Arena. Joel Embiid posted his first double-double of the season with 22 points and 14 rebounds. VJ Edgecombe had 26 points and six boards.

George shared the team lead in assists with VJ Edgecombe, a byproduct of the 76ers' lack of starting point guard Tyrese Maxey (illness). While the veteran wing has started slowly after undergoing offseason knee surgery, he enjoyed his best game of the season on Friday. With Joel Embiid able to say the same thing, the 76ers (and fantasy managers) are likely encouraged by what they saw, even with the Pacers being one of the worst teams in the NBA. George will look to end Week 8 on a high note when Philadelphia visits Atlanta on Sunday.

While the 76ers welcome back Embiid, they'll be without Tyrese Maxey, as he is out with an illness. Grimes moves into the starting lineup, with the move also meaning that Edgecombe will have the ball in his hands more as a primary playmaker. Both players now boast higher fantasy ceilings.

Maxey's status was downgraded from probable to questionable on Friday morning, so things may have been trending in this direction. He's been one of the best players in fantasy basketball this season, and the 76ers won't have an easy time filling the void. Jared McCain could potentially move into the starting lineup, with VJ Edgecombe and Quentin Grimes in line to receive boosts to their opportunities as well. Kyle Lowry is another option to step in for Maxey, but he is not worth streaming.

Maxey was listed as probable on Friday, so his downgraded status suggests he's in danger of sitting out against Indiana. If Maxey is unable to go, Jared McCain, VJ Edgecombe and Quentin Grimes could pick up the slack using a committee approach.
