Kyle Filipowski

Markkanen is back in Utah's starting lineup after an illness kept him out for the team's recent loss to the Thunder. His return will give the Jazz an elite three-level scorer at the forward position and the team's leader in points per game. Kyle Filipowski will head back to the bench to help Utah's depth.

Markkanen was held out of Sunday's blowout loss to the Thunder, with Kyle Filipowski replacing him in the starting lineup. While he would remain in the rotation, Filipowski has a lower fantasy ceiling when Markkanen and starting center Jusuf Nurkic are available.

Filipowski, who has hit double figures in five straight games, achieved two firsts on Sunday. In addition to recording his first 20-point game, the second-year center finished with his first double-double of the season. With Lauri Markkanen and Jusuf Nurkic each missing a game, Filipowski has provided third-round fantasy value over the past week. While he can certainly be a "silly season" standout, Filipowski has the potential to provide added value well before the season reaches that point.

Initially questionable for Sunday's game, Markkanen is officially out. His absence opens a spot in the starting lineup and significant usage, given his importance to the Jazz offense. Kyle Filipowski will move into the starting lineup alongside Jusuf Nurkic, raising his fantasy ceiling considerably. Also, look for Brice Sensabaugh and Taylor Hendricks to figure more prominently in the rotation.

Markkanen's late addition to the injury report doesn't bode well for his availability against OKC. If he's ultimately ruled out, the Jazz could give more minutes to Kyle Filipowski and Kyle Anderson.
