Jamal Shead started the second half on Friday and contributed nine rebounds (4-of-12 FGs), five rebounds, one assist, two steals and one three-pointer against the Hornets.Ja'Kobe Walter has been starting in place of RJ Barrett (knee), but Shead replaced him to start the second half against Charlotte. That wasn't enough to get a win, but the Raptors outscored the Hornets by three points during Shead's time on the floor, which is impressive in a 25-point loss. It's unclear if Shead will remain a starter against the Celtics on Sunday, but he will hold streaming appeal if he does.
Ja'Kobe Walter accounted for 17 points (6-of-10 FGs, 2-of-3 FTs), three rebounds, two assists, one steal and three three-pointers in Thursday's loss to the Lakers. While Walter entered Thursday having started four of Toronto's previous five games due to RJ Barrett's knee injury, he hadn't taken advantage of the opportunity. The one double-digit scoring effort in that run occurred in the game that the second-year guard did not start, and he averaged 6.6 points on 36.4 percent shooting. There were no such issues for Walter against the Lakers, as he tallied a season-high point total. One game doesn't make Walter trustworthy in most fantasy leagues, but Thursday was a step in the right direction.
Immanuel Quickley, Ja'Kobe Walter, Brandon Ingram, Scottie Barnes and Sandro Mamukelashvili will start Thursday's game against the Lakers.Due to lower back injury management, starting center Jakob Poeltl will not play on Thursday. He's been replaced in the lineup by Mamukelashvili, who is worth rostering in deep leagues even when Poeltl is available. Collin Murray-Boyles will also have added fantasy value, but Mamu is the preferred option.
RJ Barrett (knee) still isn't participating in on-court activities.Barrett has already been ruled out for a fifth straight game on Tuesday, which means Ja'Kobe Walter will continue to start in his place. Barrett is reportedly improving and remains "day-to-day", but his next chance to suit up will be against the Lakers on Thursday.
Gradey Dick (head) is not on the injury report against the Hornets on Saturday.Dick exited early on Wednesday, but that won't keep him sidelined against Charlotte. With RJ Barrett still sidelined, Dick should see a bump in minutes, and Ja'Kobe Walter, who played 32 minutes after Dick's early exit, will likely see his minutes decrease from that game, but he'll still play more than he typically does. However, neither will be reliable streaming options in standard leagues.
