Camara's strong preseason continued in this game, which bodes well for his upside in fantasy hoops. He may not be worth a selection in redraft formats, but heading into his second season, he has some upside in dynasty leagues. He posted a full stat line in this game, and while his field goal percentage was poor, he still did enough to be effective in 9-cat formats. Camara is certainly a player worth keeping an eye on, especially if Portland quickly falls out of the playoff race.
Overlooked by many before last season began, Camara was more valuable than expected as a rookie. And with Shaedon Sharpe (shoulder) due to miss the start of the regular season, the 2023 second-round pick appears poised to remain in the starting lineup. While not a very good option for standard league drafts, Camara is worth a look in deeper leagues.
Sharpe was limited to 32 games last season due to a core muscle injury. Now, he's back on the shelf. This time, it's due to a small tear of his posterior labrum, and the Blazers announced that Sharpe would miss 4-6 weeks. Given the diagnosis, he's only viable in deeper fantasy leagues allowing IL+ designations. As for who stands to benefit, Toumani Camara stands to pick up additional rotation minutes off the bench. While a starter for most of last season, Camara was expected to lose time due to the presence of Sharpe and the offseason acquisition of Deni Avdija. Avdija is expected to be a starter; Sharpe's absence will also boost his value.
