Freeman left the team to be with his family as his son has been having some health issues. No word on how long he'll be away from the team for, but the Dodgers will give him all the time that he needs to handle his family business. Cavan Biggio will cover first base in his absence against the Astros on Friday night.
Enrique Hernandez and Cavan Biggio will get the starts at third that had been going to Taylor. Based on recent usage, it's going to be Hernandez most of the time. Biggio has the platoon advantage against righties, but he's hit just .196/.302/.261 since arriving in Los Angeles.
Lux smacked a game-tying RBI double off of Kutter Crawford in the home half of the first inning. He then tagged Crawford for a 379-foot solo shot in the fourth that extended the Dodgers' lead to 4-2. He then lined a two-out single into left off of Kenley Jansen in the eighth inning, swiped second base and raced around to score on an RBI single off the bat of Cavan Biggio. With his three-hit attack, Lux is now hitting .225/.276/.333 with five homers, 27 RBI and four stolen bases.
The 33-year-old slugger has been shelved since the middle of May due to an oblique strain and it certainly doesn't sound like he's going to be ready to return anytime soon. Expect some combination of Chris Taylor, Enrique Hernandez and Cavan Biggio to continue sharing the load at third base until Muncy is ready to return.
Biggio's 390-foot shot off of Zack Wheeler was his third on the season to go along with a .197 batting average. He's bene playing regularly against right-handed pitching since coming to the Dodgers, but he can't be trusted in fantasy lineups right now.
