This is noteworthy because the Nationals are starting left-hander MacKenzie Gore. It was assumed that Kepler might sit against lefties, but that doesn't appear to be the case, at least while Weston Wilson is on the IL. Given his strong home ballpark and good lineup around him, Kepler as an everyday player could provide sneaky fantasy value. The Phillies' full lineup is: Trea Turner SS, Bryce Harper 1B, Alec Bohm 3B, Kyle Schwarber DH, J.T. Realmuto C, Max Kepler LF, Nick Castellanos RF, Bryson Stott 2B, and Brandon Marsh CF.
Even though he had to overcome a shoulder injury that limited him to DH duties initially, Rojas hit .292/.346/.479 this spring. The Phillies are saying that neither Max Kepler nor Brandon Marsh will be platoon guys initially, but Rojas belongs in center at least against lefties, if not on a full-time basis.
In spite of a 126 OPS+ in 2013 and a 109 mark last season, Marsh is probably going to open up as the Phillies' No. 9 hitter. It doesn't seem fair, given that he's probably their fourth or fifth best hitter against righties, but it's not like the Phillies have any below average bats in their lineup. Since Marsh will also do quite a bit of sitting versus southpaws, it's hard to recommend him in mixed leagues right now.
Max Kepler and Brandon Marsh were dinged up on Sunday, and Johan Rojas still hasn't played the field this spring. Taking stock of the Phillies' outfield picture as Opening Day approaches.
Marsh (knee) will return to the lineup for Tuesday's Grapefruit League game versus the Pirates, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.
