Peralta gave up singles to Max Kepler and Eduard Julien and that was it. The right-hander issued eight strikeouts against two walks while throwing 62-of-102 pitches for strikes. The 28-year-old was outstanding in his first start after the break and improved his K/Bb to 138/38 and lowered his ERA to 3.88, but his bullpen couldn't hold a 1-0 lead. He has a tasty matchup lined up next weekend against the Marlins.
That's a rough one. Lopez allowed an RBI single in the third to Jackson Chourio, and that was it. Unfortunately for him, the Brew Crew and fantasy managers who roster him, that was one more run than Freddy Peralta allowed Saturday. While it comes with no win, it's an excellent outing for the 28-year-old in what can best be described as an (extremely) uneven year for the right-hander. He'll look to build on this -- and get some run support -- Friday against the Tigers.
He'll be followed by Aaron Civale on Sunday. Fantasy managers should plan accordingly. Peralta was effective, if inconsistent, in the first half -- registering a 4.11 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and a 130/36 K/BB ratio over 103 innings through hisf first 19 starts. He'll be opposed by Twins' right-hander Pablo Lopez on Saturday.
Peralta struck out six and walked none, but he didn't have much in the way of luck tonight; he gave up 10 hits, three of which came on weak flies to the outfield. He's definitely been a fantasy disappointment since excelling in his first four starts of the year, but his peripherals are better than his ERA; odds are that he'll bounce back in the second half.
The 28-year-old right-hander punched out four batters on the night. He served up a two-run homer to Will Smith before he recorded an out in the ballgame then allowed a third run as Andy Pages bounced into a fielder's choice in the opening inning. He settled in nicely afterwards, but still needed 104 pitches (64 strikes) to get through 12 outs. Peralta got a whopping 21 swings and misses on the night -- 10 of those on his slider -- while posting a CSW of 29 percent. He'll look to finish the first half strong as he totes a 3.95 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and a 124/36 K/BB ratio (98 innings) into Friday's showdown against the Nationals.
