Malloy's first-inning blast off veteran right-hander Carlos Carrasco set the tone early for Detroit's eventual eight-run explosion in an eventual one-sided blowout. It was his seventh big fly of the season and fifth time he's gone deep in his last 15 contests. The 24-year-old rookie slugger definitely struggled upon arrival in the big leagues, but is clearly starting to get more comfortable at the dish based on his recent results, batting .306 (15-for-49) over those last 15 games.
Carrasco was unfortunately tasked with wearing it during a one-sided affair to spare Cleveland's bullpen after surrendering four runs in the first two frames. The veteran right-hander coughed up nine hits, inclduing a two-run homer to rookie Justyn-Henry Malloy in the first inning. He's struggled to a bloated 5.32 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 74/26 K/BB ratio across 91 1/3 innings (18 starts) this season and it's fair to wonder whether it makes sense for Cleveland to continue handing him the ball in the midst of a playoff race. He'll square off against the Phillies on Saturday in a challening road matchup and isn't a recommended fantasy option at this stage of his career.

Carrasco turned in a fine outing against a paltry Rays lineup. He led with his slider and it missed plenty of bats. Yet, that same slider allowed doubles to both Josh Lowe and Alex Jackson which led to both Rays' runs. Carrasco will take a 5.02 ERA into the All-Star break.
The veteran blasted a 440-foot two-run shot off of Carlos Carrasco and then added an RBI groundout in the ninth inning to get the Giants back to within one run. Conforto started the season hot but then cooled considerably before heating back up again. Over his last 15 games, Conforto is 11-for-29 (.282) with two home runs, 13 RBI, and five runs scored. That keeps him firmly on the radar in deeper mixed leagues.
