Luke Keaschall tripled, doubled and was hit by a pitch in his three plate appearances Monday against the Braves.Keaschall's nice game today came in his second start as a left fielder. We've been assuming he's pretty well locked in at second base for the Twins, but maybe they're considering playing Kody Clemens there are a fair amount against righties. Either way, Keaschall should get all of the playing time he can handle. Victor Caratini presumably would start less often if the Twins decide to go with Keaschall in left and Trevor Larnach at DH with much frequency.
Alan Roden went 2-for-3 with a grand slam Sunday in the Twins' 8-1 victory over the Braves. That the Twins retained Trevor Larnach and added Josh Bell and Victor Caratini over the winter would seem to leave their younger outfield types with little opportunity to crack the starting lineup this spring. Roden, though, overcame similar circumstances to make the Jays last spring. He wound up disappointing and getting moved in the Louis Varland deal, but his on-base skills make him interesting, especially if he shows a little more power.
