Berti will have a chance to return to the lineup for the first time since the end of May because of his left calf strain. The 34-year-old will be a bench option for the Yankees whenever he returns, and isn't likely to be a significant fantasy contributor.
Berti, on the IL with a calf strain, is 9-for-17 in four games for the RailRiders after going 4-for-19 in seven games with Double-A Somerset. He's ready to rejoin the Yankees if they want to make room for him. That'd probably involve sending down Duke Ellis.
Berti has not performed well in his 10 games since his rehab assignment began with a .179 average and .609 OPS. The most important thing for the 34-year-old is getting reps, however, and he'll likely get a handful more games in the minors before having a chance to be a part of the New York bench before the 2024 season comes to an end. Because Berti was on the roster before August 31, he can be a part of the playoff group.
The versatile 34-year-old has been shelved since late May due to a left calf strain. Given the long layoff, he's likely to need plenty of at-bats there before he's ready to return to the big-league roster. Prior to landing on the injured list, Berti was hitting .273/.322/.327 with a homer, six RBI and four stolen bases in 60 plate appearances.
